The job of a Speech Language Pathologist is often misunderstood.
Why would an adult need to see a Speech Language Pathologist?
-Difficulty swallowing: coughing while eating or drinking, food or pills feeling stuck, feeling food or liquid "going down the wrong pipe"
-Increased difficulty with language: difficulty coming up with words, new difficulty with reading, writing or spelling
-Voice or speech changes: hoarse, rough or breathy voice, difficulty projecting voice, slurred speech
-Cognitive decline: difficulty with memory, attention, safety awareness, medication management
Early intervention when problems arise brings the best outcomes. Speech Therapy Connections has some great tools to bring you back to your best. If you or someone you know is having difficulty with any of the areas above please reach out for an evaluation.
