Cathy Holt
Hello Joy of Movement Community,
It is a pleasure to announce that classes are returning to the former Joy of Movement Studio in February!
A good way to describe this new venture is a "Collective" of individual teachers and classes. Joy of Movement is no longer a business entity. The non-profit Joy of Movement studio closed in November 2022, the non-profit dissolved and there is no 'owner' or board operating the former Joy of Movement studio as we have known it. The space is now leased and managed by a local business owner.
Greg Lewis who owns several venues at Chatham Mills is now leasing the former studio space. You may be familiar with these businesses at the mill - The Sycamore Restaurant, Forest Hall Event Venue, and 39 West Catering, all owned by Greg. The former studio will be an event venue on weekends and classes held Monday through Thursday. Several former Jom teachers have been coordinating with Greg on the details of resuming classes in the space.
Things are still unfolding as we all become accustomed to new management.
If you are interested in classes, please contact each teacher directly (see below).
Save their contact information now.
This it the last group e-mail that will be going out at this time!
Some things we can anticipate:
-- Weekly classes will be held Monday through Thursday, with possibilities of special events or workshops/playshops on weekends.
-- Teachers will rent the space independently and will manage their own classes according to guidelines of the new management.
-- Your class experience will probably be similar to what you're familiar with.
-- Management of the space will be different than we are accustomed to, so you may see things managed differently in the space.
-- Individual teachers will be marketing and managing their own schedule, social media, and communications with their students.
-- As of now, there is no "Jom Collective" website or central communications for classes held in the space.
-- There is no monthly Jom newsletter.
-- Teachers may post their class flyers at the bulletin board across from the door. Postings are up to individual teachers.
-- The former Jom page and Instagram is still operational at this time and may be used by teachers for class postings.
-- Please contact each teacher directly to register for classes.

A new chapter of this dream that began 12 years ago continues to unfold:
Chapter 1 - The Joy of Movement Studio and Garden created, owned and operated by Lynda and Steve Heymen.
Chapter 2 - Joy of Movement non-profit under the fiscal umbrella of Abundance NC, stewarded by many volunteers.
And currently, Chapter 3 - The "Joy of Movement Collective" of teachers and classes in the event space operated by Greg Lewis.
Thank you to all who have carried the Joy of Movement Dream over the years, and those who are a part of this new chapter.
Thank you to Greg Lewis who is making the classes as a "Joy of Movement Collective" a part of his event space.
With Joyful Regards,
The "Joy of Movement Collective" of Teachers
