My cards really said 2024 is going to be a doozy. 🫠 Let’s gooooooo. 😂
Edit, what do the cards say? The spread I most commonly use for yearly forecast readings is the celtic cross. It has a number of variations, and is therefore versatile for a myriad of larger spreads.
Within this spread, 2023 is represented by the hierophant. The hierophant is a challenging card for many, especially those with religious trauma. It represents dogma, tradition, and morality. Within this card, I see the journey of overcoming religious indoctrination and learning to seek enlightenment through education and social connection. The hierophant is a card that represents the esoteric and theoretical. The challenge of 2023 was in finding practical applications for my moral values and spiritual beliefs. Moving through 2023 was learning when best to exercise obedience and when free will should lead the charge. 2023 was filled with setbacks and betrayals. It taught me to value my own sovereignty and place within the universe.
Stepping into 2024, the 8 of wands will be the overarching theme. I have stepped through a stressful period of my life victorious. Although I am have gained new scars, I am able to show them with pride. My goal this year will be to speak up against those who would hurt the vulnerable and overcome adversity within myself and my community. This card is one of hard-earned experience that leads to wisdom and personal growth.
The card representing me for this year is the Chariot. The chariot is a card of active movement and controlled expansion. This year, I will work towards achieving my goals. I can do so because the experiences of the last year has made my goals clear to me. I know the way forward and am ready to act. Within this card, we see the evolution from someone primarily interested in pleasure seeking to someone focused on innovation and growth. I am responsible for taking the reigns and seeing myself through this journey.
The characteristics of the Chariot will be important, as my external environment is represented by the devil card. This card represents a reality warped by fear. The devil tries to distract us with temporary pleasures so that we are not able to meet our long term goals. However, it also calls us to become aware of our childhood wounds and heal.
In this year, I will be confronting my own fears around my worthiness of love and happiness, as evidenced by the 10 of cups being in the place representing my current hopes and fears. This is a card that represents wish fulfillment – finding happiness in personal connections and relationships. This being in a challenging position in the spread indicates that this is an area of stress and anxiety.
This is further highlighted by the fact that the cards representing the overview of the situation are the 8 of cups and strength in opposition with each other. Both of these cards are associated with 8, which is a number that represents mastery in numerology. Within these cards, specifically, they represent mastery of the self. The 8 of cups is mastery of our emotions through reflection and growth. The 8 of cups calls us to reclaim our authentic self and overcome feelings of guilt or worthlessness. Strength calls us to step into strength through wisdom. It’s a card of strength through courage and reason. These are two things that have traditionally been at odds within me, but 2024 will be a year where I learn how to make my intellect and intuition work together.
My understanding of my mindset is shown in the Emperor and Judgement cards. Throughout this year, I will be stepping into my personal power, and learn how to be a more effective leader. The emperor represents the ego within tarot, while judgment represents the superego. The emperor calls us to stay engaged in the physical realm, while judgment requires us to let go of our attachments and see things as they truly are. As with many other of my pairings in this spread, we see my goal for this year as integrating the various parts of myself that I had previously kept separated. It’s time to move past the conditioning of my youth and see myself as an active player in my life.
My overall goals for 2024 are shown in the 4 of coins paired with the 8 of wands. It’s time for me to move past a survivalist mindset and into growth. I've worked hard to master my environment. I must do this by creating firm boundaries (9 of wands) and embracing my strength. Through purpose and persistence, I will be able to act upon the goals I have been setting in 2023. The time is right, and now is the time to proceed. From the darkness and chaos of the last year, I am transformed. I have learned important lessons that I can now implement and grow from. It is time to become an active participant in life and go after what I want. However, I need to watch out for impulsive or self sabotaging behaviors and continue to improve through self reflection and feedback from people I trust.
