Understanding Health Plans: What’s the Best Option for Your Family? 👇👇👇 Imagine choosing where to eat....
🍗HMO (Health Maintenance Organization)
You pick one restaurant (your Primary Care Doctor), and you ALWAYS eat there.
If you want to try another dish (see a specialist), you need the chef’s (doctor's) permission first.
It’s usually cheaper, but your choices are limited to that restaurant and its menu (network).
🌭PPO (Preferred Provider Organization)
Like a dining pass to many restaurants.
You can eat at any restaurant (see any doctor), with or without a recommendation.
If you eat at preferred spots (in-network), it's cheaper.
More flexibility, but it usually costs more up front (higher premiums).
🌮HDHP (High-Deductible Health Plan)
Like paying for meals out of pocket until you hit a spending limit, then meals are covered.
You pay full price for meals (medical costs) until you hit a certain amount (deductible).
After that, the plan helps cover the rest.
Often paired with a special savings account (HSA) to help you pay.
Good for people who don’t eat out (go to the doctor) much, but want protection if they need.
I hope this helps, let me know if you have questions!
