Not all wounds are visible, and not all healing looks the same.

PTSD can affect people differently, and it can stem from many kinds of traumatic experiences. For some, trauma may be connected to violence, abuse, loss, an accident, military service, medical experiences, first responder work, or events that felt overwhelming, frightening, or unsafe.

No two stories are exactly the same, and no one should have to feel like their experience does not count.

At Crawford County Mental Health Center, we are here for those who may need support along the way.

We’re proud to share more about autism services at the Sunshine Center on our North Michigan campus.

Through our partnership with SEK Interlocal, CCMHC brings together academic instruction, behavioral health services and autism treatment in one coordinated setting designed to treat the whole person.

Grant funding from the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas, Tower Mental Health Foundation of Kansas and the Bicknell Legacy Foundation has helped add new playground equipment, sensory tools, expanded parking and a dedicated bus drop-off area for the program.

Read the full story to learn more about the partnership, the program, and the support behind these improvements below ⬇⬇

Mental health challenges can feel isolating, but you are not alone.

Millions of people experience anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health conditions each year. Reaching out for support, talking to someone you trust, or asking for help is not a sign of weakness.

Words carry weight.

The things we say to others (or ourselves) can stick far longer than we realize. During Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to challenge ourselves to speak with more kindness, patience, and understanding.

A simple compliment, checking in on someone, or reminding a person they matter can make a real difference. Let’s use this month as a reminder to make those kinds of words part of our everyday lives. 💚

Early intervention matters.

Research shows that identifying and addressing mental health concerns early can improve long-term outcomes for children and adolescents.

Early support can help strengthen emotional regulation, improve relationships and school performance, reduce the severity of symptoms over time, and build healthy coping skills that carry into adulthood.
