to bringing compassionate, innovative care for many healthy years to come. Since 1852, Mercy has served the Midwest with health care grounded in Catholic values. Today, we’re blessed to extend our service to the Pittsburg community. We look forward to bringing you and your family compassionate, innovative care for many healthy years to come. Mercy Hospital Pittsburg (formerly Ascension Via Christi Hospital) delivers specialty care and 24/7 emergency care. We provide advanced surgical care for serious and life-threatening injuries and illnesses. Our care teams listen to understand your health needs and deliver care that's right for you. We're a destination for specialty care — including heart, orthopedic, cancer, stroke care, orthopedics and women’s health. Our OBGYNs and maternity care teams deliver a personalized birthing experience. We offer a wide range of minimally invasive procedures using robotic-assisted technology, imaging and lab tests, all on one campus. Our facilities are currently taking precautions to help keep patients and visitors safe, which may include conducting screenings, restricting visitors, masking in areas of high community transmission and practicing distancing for compassionate, safe care. We continuously monitor COVID-19 guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and adjust our safety practices and safeguards accordingly.

Yesterday, the Pittsburg Fire Department stopped by to present a check after several of the firefighters took time out of their Saturday earlier this month to raise money to support our cancer center. On Homecoming, several members did a traditional "boot block," standing on streetcorners asking passersby for what they could spare.

We're always deeply grateful for community members who are passionate about helping us in our mission of caring for all who need it. PFD, thank you so much! 🚒❤️

This October, we celebrate National Physical Therapy Month and World Spine Day — a perfect time to highlight the life-changing role of acute rehabilitation.

Acute rehab is critical for spinal and neurological patients in particular because it helps them achieve greater gains in mobility and self-care, reduce complications like pressure injuries and respiratory decline and improve their long-term quality of life and community reintegration.

At Mercy Hospital Pittsburg, our multidisciplinary rehab team helps patients regain independence, prevent complications and achieve safer outcomes after spinal cord injuries, strokes or other neurological conditions.

“It's nice to be able to serve a community of people that I know,” one said. ❤️

PITTSBURG, Kan. — For many women, getting a mammogram can be a scary or daunting task, but Mercy Hospital Pittsburg Mammographers Brenda Thompson and Shelby Taylor are dedicated to make the experience smoother.

Ever wish your gift could keep on giving?

A Donor Advised Fund, or DAF, is an easy and meaningful way to give back to your community. It works like a charitable savings account, allowing you to support causes you care about now and in the future. When you make a grant to Mercy Health Foundation through a DAF, you help expand access to compassionate care and support vital health care programs for years to come!

Join Us in the Season of Creation!

Each September through October 4, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, Catholics around the world join together to renew “our relationship with our Creator and all creation.”

At Mercy, caring for creation is part of who we are. We’re reducing energy use across our facilities, not only lessening our environmental impact but also allowing more resources to go directly to patient care.

Our caregivers and patients also live this commitment daily—whether it’s through recycling, tending a garden, or supporting conservation efforts.

We invite you to pray with us and share in the celebration. Post a photo in the chat of how you care for creation—your small steps can inspire big change.

Creator of all,
we praise you for the gift of life
and for the faith that unites us in care for our common home
Prince of Peace, through your wounds, teach us to stand in solidarity
with the woundedness of others, of creation, and of the world.
Through your resurrection, make us people of hope—
May we come together as one family, to labor for your peace—
Amen
