Last night, local first responders and community partners came together at Fox Chapel Area High School for an active shooter educational night. Attendees heard from PA State Police Trooper Rocco Gagliardi, who talked about active shooter statistics and detailed the "Run, Hide, Fight" action steps in the event of an active shooter encounter.

Today is National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day. We thank our officers for not only keeping our students, staff, families, and visitors safe but also for going above and beyond, day in and day out, offering a hand (or fist bump, if you're Officer Lynch) to anyone who needs it.

Alex Betancourt-Jones, a sophomore on the Fox Chapel Area boys basketball team, told Officer Bradish that the team was having Chick-fil-A for dinner, and that they ordered a meal for him, too.

A totally unexpected and unnecessary gesture, but one that was completely appreciated.

Fox Chapel Area School District school resource officers Dennis Lynch and Joe Kozarian recently accepted the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) Model Agency Award on behalf of the entire department at NASRO's national conference in Indianapolis.

Model Agency Awards are presented to departments that exemplify NASRO's triad model of training, policies, and standards.

Today, the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Program turns 40! In that time, D.A.R.E. has become the most comprehensive K-12 prevention education program in the world and has reached tens of millions of students throughout the United States and in 28 other countries.

Fox Chapel Area currently has 3 certified D.A.R.E. officers who provide lessons for students in grades 5-8.

We hope to see everyone at the rescheduled Community Safety event on May 13!

While Saturday’s second annual Fox Chapel Area School District Community Safety Event was expected to go on, rain or shine, the current forecast of heavy rain has prompted the district to make the difficult decision to postpone the event to Saturday, May 13.

While we are obviously disappointed about these circumstances, our top priority is always the safety of our students and their families, and we look forward to holding the event on a day with better weather and welcoming many members of our school community.
