Cumberland Woods Village, our independent living community on the campus of UPMC Passavant, held a Resident and Staff Soup Cook Off Contest. Four residents participated.

The soups entered included Cream of Chicken Gnocchi, Beef Vegetable Barley, Ham and Bean, Seven-Can Chicken Tortilla, and Chunky Split Pea with Ham. The winner of the contest was the delightful Seven-Can Chicken Tortilla Soup, garnished with tortilla chips, sour cream, and shredded cheddar cheese. A nice change of pace, the afternoon was enjoyed by all!

"BeWell Kitchen" events are taking place across our communities with great result. This is an opportunity for residents to prepare a BeWell recipe alongside Tony Carr, regional chef for UPMC Senior Communities. The roasted beet spinach salad with pear vinaigrette has been a big hit!

"BeWell" recipes have been incorporated into Senior Communities menus, designated by a blueberry icon alongside the menu item to indicate a healthier option.
