I want to share how obsessed I am with my .bene shirts. They have come in super handy, especially recently. When I’m making the journey up and down my stairs with crutches, I’m able to put SO MANY THINGS inside these giant pockets. I’m talking several different sizes of ice packs, my phone, a water bottle, and more.
As many of you know, aesthetics are super important to me. They have been since I was little. I love how clothing can be wearable, functional art. If I don’t like how I look in something, it most likely isn’t going to stay on for long. My family would tell you I used to change my outfits several times a day. Probably for multiple reasons including being highly sensitive to the way fabric feels on my skin, but definitely because if my mood changed, so did my outfit.
The environment is also incredibly important to me. Several years ago I made a commitment to buying mostly second hand items, or new items from sustainable/slow fashion companies. There are occasions where I’ve bent these rules when I’m looking for something specific or my budget is small, but on the whole I’ve stuck by it.
Flux Bene ticks so many of these boxes. It is the slowest of slow fashion in the best possible way. They’re zero waste, so they keep used clothing out of landfills and repurpose it into something one million times better than it was before. They do meaningful, seasonal rollouts instead of over producing for the sake of sales. They’re gender neutral and size inclusive. Everything they make is aesthetically pleasing. And the owner, Rebecca, is a very sweet human who truly cares about the people who wear her work. I’ve only had the pleasure of meeting her once, but I could definitely see why so many people adore her.
They just had their most recent release when I was in my doctor’s appointment, so the piece I wanted got snatched up before I could get to it. It didn’t surprise me at all because everything they make is amazing. It just means there must be something even better for me in their next one.
If you have yet to get a piece from them, I highly recommend putting it on your list to save up for. You definitely will not be disappointed.
