For good or ill, our subconscious prompts automatic thoughts and behaviors which become habitual and turn into fears, inhibitions and even patterns of self-sabotage. Most of the time, we are passive in this process allowing our subconscious to sort through and use the experiences and thoughts in our lives to program automatic responses, thoughts and behaviors. Do You Know the Difference Between Semi-Starvation and Fasting?

Some scientists suggest that as long as you have some extra body fat, you’re technically fasting—not starving! Why? Because your body can use that stored fat as fuel and even make the glucose you need without eating carbohydrates. It's like having a built-in energy reserve!

But here’s the flip side: sometimes we might not get enough nutrients simply because of our food choices. That's where things can get tricky.

When you engage in therapeutic fasting for 24 hours or more, you intentionally encourage your body to enter a state of natural ketosis, especially if you’re cutting down on carbs. The goal here is to develop metabolic flexibility—not to starve yourself by restricting calories!

Extended calorie restriction, combined with less-than-ideal food choices, can lead to what's known as semi-starvation, even if you’re not fasting.

And here's where I come in, as a clinical hypnotist: your mindset during a fast is crucial. If you’re constantly focused on hunger and believe you’re starving, guess what? Your body might just agree with you! That's why, in my program, we emphasize gradually increasing fasting while making the best possible food choices.
