This year marked the first time all 50 states took part in — and Pennsylvania’s strong turnout shows the dedication of local organizations, volunteers, and public health partners working to prevent overdose deaths every day.

Across the Commonwealth, more than 100 sites hosted naloxone distribution events — many supplied with doses funded through our Overdose Prevention Program.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health also supported the effort by designating six State Health Centers as official distribution points. Naloxone available through State Health Centers — and from year-round local partners — is also funded and supplied through our program.

Free naloxone (Narcan) is available year-round at State Health Centers and local partners across Pennsylvania. Learn more ⤵️

Stress is a universal human experience. When we endure too much, even simple, routine tasks can feel overwhelming. National Stress Awareness Day is a reminder to take care of yourself.

Though stress begins in the mind, it often shows up in the body. Muscle tension, increased heart rate, headaches and dizziness, fatigue, and digestive issues can wear the body down. That's why it's so important to practice managing and preventing stress.

Most things that cause stress are beyond our control. Focus on the things you CAN control, like practicing meditation, breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation, and opening up to social support.

Life is tough, but with the right tools, you'll build resilience. 💛

We couldn’t resist the — and the chance to highlight that Certified Recovery Specialists (CRSs) are the real-life superheroes of recovery, their invisible capes powered by the experience they carry and the empathy they share. 💥

Across Pennsylvania, CRSs are a vital part of our county drug and alcohol offices’ recovery support services — trained peers who guide and walk beside people on their recovery journey every day. 💜

Leaves on a Stream 🍂

• Take a few deep breaths to ground yourself in the present.

• Imagine yourself sitting beside a stream. Focus on the sound of the water, the quiet of nature.

• As thoughts or emotions come up, imagine placing them on leaves. Watch these leaves float downstream. Let them go.
