🕊️ I woke up singing when doves cry

🐾 Serenaded Frank in my best Prince voice while getting him ready for his morning walk.

😱 The world was too scary today after two nights of storms so anxious Frank turned us around early

💃🏻I cranked the song & danced around while I was making my protein rich smoothie

💚 Enjoyed a mindful shower with a heart chakra blend and the scent of a new candle

💜 I was ready to start the day

I didn't have to spend any extra time. These were just little bonuses to make my morning fun and allow me to be present.

Step into the serene beauty of Pittsburgh Botanic Garden for a transformative mindfulness workshop. Let wellness practitioner Laura Kustaborder lead you in powerful techniques to gently regulate your nervous system, helping you release stress and find your center. Through soothing gentle movements, calming breathwork, and restorative practices, you’ll anchor yourself in the present moment, surrounded by nature’s vibrant embrace. Rejuvenate your spirit and leave feeling refreshed, balanced, and deeply mindful.

No prior experience is necessary. Please plan accordingly for this outside session and dress comfortably. You can expect gentle seated and standing practices. Yoga mats will be provided for your comfort. Feel free to bring a journal, pen, and/or a water bottle

A little ride along the river was the perfect Monday stress relief I needed

I started with Sitali breathing (inhale through curled tongue & exhale through the nose) to reset & cool off.

But then the silliness just took over.

I've been dealing with some tedious paperwork with the State and today Google suspended my business account. 🤯

I just started laughing at the ridiculousness of it all. I've done everything I can do for today.

💃🏻I had a little dance around the living room and the kitchen while the dogs watched with skepticism.
So I danced more 🕺🏻

I even rounded out my routine with a fantastic new songs I created for Frank. 🐾

I think he loves when I sing to him 😂

I feel present again & relaxed.

Be silly.
Let yourself be a little foolish.

Today I learned that a former patient, friend and incredible human being has left his physical world. 

I felt ripped to shreds when I heard this news. 

His son was shadowing when I was a PA in oncology and the very short version is that this family is amazing & the passing of Bob is a most incredible loss to humanity. (Both amazing children are now doctors!)

Then I climbed as much as I could. I needed to move my body and I have missed climbing so incredibly much. Starting over is so full of challenges and is incredibly frustrating. 

But tonight I felt weak and foolish. I questioned my skills and I felt alone.

I settled into my restorative yoga class and relaxed to the point of release as tears  began to well up in my eyes. 

I held them back and softened into the shapes and peace that my body and nervous system needed. 

Tears poured down my face on the way home. 
A release so much larger than the events of the day. 
Another layer of shedding old skins that no longer serve me. 

Now I’m sitting on my deck enjoying the upcoming full moon and her energy. 

Reflecting on my dear friend as he leaves this physical world. 

Remembering to love in the biggest capacity- YOU, others, strangers, the world.

🥵 Are you feeling the summer sizzle? Whether it's the humidity & heatwave getting to you or you take meds making you extra sensitive to heat, you are not alone!

Good news: There's a simple, ancient yogic breathing technique that can help cool you down from the inside out. 🌬️❄️

It's called Sitali Breath. Here's how to do it:

✨Find a comfortable seat & sit up tall but relaxed
✨Curl your tongue into a long tube
(If you can't curl your tongue you can purse your lips as if you're sipping through a straw or draw air through clenched teeth- This is called Sitkari breath, but it does the same thing!)

Inhale slowly and deeply through your curled tongue or pursed lips.
Feel the cool air coming in.

Close your mouth and exhale slowly through your nose.

Repeat 5-10 times, or until you feel cooler.

This breath literally cools your blood as it enters your body. Give it a try next time you're feeling overheated! Save this post for those hot moments! 👇

Coming into Monday can be rough, especially after a busy weekend. 

Finding little pockets to move and stretch can make all the difference, even on the busiest day.

I love doing my computer work standing, so I can easily remind myself to take these mini-breaks.

It helps me stretch, move, and feel so much more present throughout the day.

I even take some time to work on strength and balance like this tree pose, with or without a block for a little extra support.

These small shifts in routine aren't just about physical flexibility; they're about creating mental space and impacting your mood.

This helps you transform how you feel, one mindful movement at a time.

I had a lot of outdoor "chores" to do today, some of which involved sitting with ghosts and shadows.

Emotional processing is hard work.
It's draining. It takes a lot of energy.
So worth it though.

🌱 Thankfully I had a ton of plants that needed some attention.
It was the perfect way to soothe my nervous system.

Digging in the soil puts us in contact with Mycobacterium vaccae, a non-pathogenic microbe that has been shown to increase serotonin.

This is nature's mood booster!

Sitting in the sun helped boost my vitamin D.

Even the humidity helped me have a good healthy detox through sweat.

Nature heals. 💜
