My time on East Carson street has come to a close. That office is an important step in my journey as a solo practitioner. It was the very first blank slate I've ever had - I started from scratch. I made the hard decision to exclusively do barefoot massage. I built that iconic pergola myself from the ground up. I chose every piece in that room. It's very "me" in a way that no other room has ever been before.
In the last two years, my life has changed in ways I could have never predicted. I have changed, grown, and become someone very different than I was in April of 2022. So after some months of searching for an ideal office space, I finally came to the realization that it was much closer than I expected. I have a spare room... why not make that my massage studio?
Initially, I resisted the idea of moving my practice into my Brighton Heights home. Would people be weirded out by the "Me-ness" that my home exudes? Would people be put off by my big black dog? Is my neighborhood too far off the beaten path?
It feels exposed.
But then I remembered how fortunate I am that my practice attracts kind, thoughtful clients.
To be a massage therapist is to be surrounded by vulnerability. The amount of trust that my clients put in me is remarkable. I am honored that people choose to take time out of their busy lives, share their stories, present their pains, part with their hard-earned money, and allow me to touch their body with the intention to help.
I have never been drawn to act "professional" such that my personality is wiped away - I think everyone that's had my massage would agree that my presence is easy and comfortable. All I have ever been is genuine. My work is very much an extension of who I am.
If you're looking for someone in a polyester polo shirt with an embroidered logo, in a room that is painted off-white from top to bottom, in a soulless office building downtown, I'm not your guy.
I do have 10 years of experience and do an impeccable deep tissue massage.
I am so grateful to have shared the East Carson office with my excellent friends, , , and .
