Being a caregiver for one of our beloveds is one of the most precious things that we do in life. And it can also be one of the hardest.

I recently heard the statistic that up to half of family caregivers will die before the person they are caring for. There are of course lots of variables here. But this honestly makes me want to throw up.

I am especially thinking about the many folks who will be directly and indirectly impacted if this Big Bill goes through. We are failing people.

While I can only do so much to change the system, I do support lots of folks in navigating it, both around end of life and serious illness that isn’t necessarily terminal.

Most of the folks who reach out to me are caregivers, because while there is just so much to wade through, there is also very little in terms of support. And caregiver burnout is real and serious.

I have some openings right now for caregiver or grief support. If you need a little extra care, or someone to walk alongside you in the wilds, I invite you to reach out and see if we’re a good fit. 🖤

Up next: book club! Join us at as we kick off spooky season by taking some time to explore life’s most profound moments and reflect on the end of it. We’ll be discussing ’s book, Briefly Perfectly Human: Making an Authentic Life by Getting Real About the End.

We’ll gather together to discuss the beautifully honest insights of death doula and founder of (where I did my initial Deathcare studies!), Alua Arthur who encourages us to embrace the end of life as a natural part of our human experience.

Come through for a meaningful discussion in a supportive environment where you can connect with others, share your thoughts, and find comfort in the shared journey of life and death. If you don’t finish (or even start) the book we’d still love to have you!

I’m excited to be at this weekend! I’m hosting a Listening Booth during the closing reception of their exhibition, Hereafter, which explores grief, mourning, and celebration of life. It is a very moving exhibition with many talented artists! If you’re in the PGH area and you haven’t made it yet, I highly recommend!

The Listening Booth will be a space to share whatever is on your heart and be heard! No advice, no interruptions, just presence and listening.

Feel free to by to just to say hello! 🖤 I’d love to see you there.

Thanks so much to Murrysville Community Library for hosting me for the Floating Floral Art workshop last week. Together we practiced slowing down, connecting with nature, and being in the moment with flowers and the elements as our creative mediums and supports. It was a beautiful day, a wonderful community of folks, and is such a fun class to teach!

Join us next Wednesday, 7/31 🌺🌿🌻 for our Floating Floral Art workshop at the Murrysville Library. Come enjoy a morning of self-care, community, and a low stakes creative and mindfulness practice.

In this workshop, participants will be guided through a creative mindfulness practice that supports slowing down, connecting with nature, and practicing being in the moment- without forcing it. Inspired by the Buddhist practice of creating mandalas, we will use flowers and other objects found in nature to create our own temporary art as a form of meditation and expression with nature. Participants will have space to reflect on and share how this process relates to their everyday lives and self-care practices, and what lessons and tools they’d like to take with them. All are welcome and there is no meditation or creative experience necessary to join this workshop.

Feel free to reach out with questions 😊 And let the library know you’re coming on their website.

I am so excited and honored to be on the podcast talking about death work and my journey into it.

They have a really profound exhibition right now called “Hereafter,” that explores grief, mourning, and the celebration of life. As part of the exhibition, they are also inviting different speakers to share about their perspectives of different griefy topics. If you’re in the Pittsburgh area, go check it out!

I’ll also be there on the closing weekend, and will share more about that closer to! 😊

So excited to be presenting on the upcoming webinar for the Florida Horticulture for Health Network with ! I’ll be talking about some of the ways that I’ve incorporated gardening and nature based activities (in and out of cemeteries) to support grievers and caregivers. For the folks that are more based in horticulture work, I’ll be doing a little intro around grief as well.

If this interests you, I’d love to see you there!

So excited to be a part of this conversation!

Nurturing plants and gardens can provide the bereaved with feelings of comfort, hope, and sense of control. Similarly, gardening in cemeteries or around graves can be a powerful act of honor and remembrance, even for those who are grieving a loss from many years ago. Join us for a conversation with practitioners who use Horticultural Therapy to support individuals through dying, grief, and loss of all kinds.

Hosted by the Florida Horticulture for Health Network.

Hey friends. It’s been a while since we’ve posted in these squares, but we’re still here and have mostly been focusing our offerings in the in person spaces and the continuous dance of finding balance as a business owner with a chronic illness and energy that waxes and wanes. As I slowly and somewhat reluctantly come out of my seasonal hibernation time, I’ve been resting on the ways that grief changes us.

Losing our person changes us.
Living on a planet that is warming, changes us.
Witnessing multiple genocides happening in real time, changes us.
Experiencing all the big and small ways that loss shows up in our lives, changes us.
Grief, changes us.

And that is okay. It would be wild if we stayed the same through it all, and it often takes us by surprise. I’m not sure what is in the air right now, but so many of the grievers I work with have been naming the ways their experiences have changed them, and how hard that can be. For us and for our loved ones.

If this is resonating, I wanted to share these little loving reminders with you and send some love and tenderness your way. It’s hard. And it’s okay to change, it’s okay to be messy, it’s okay to take action, it’s okay to rest. Grief is all of it and grief is in it all.

Slides read:
Let grief change you.
Let grief move you.
Let grief bring stillness.
Let grief become action.
Let grief become rest.
Let grief in.
Let grief out.
Let grief be cyclical.
Let grief be messy.
Let grief be.
