Four months ago, Ryan Brady's world changed when a car accident left him with a broken pelvis, arm, foot, L1 vertebra (lower back) fracture and an open wound on his foot. An avid whitewater guide and skier in Colorado, he suddenly found himself unable to walk, lift his arm or maintain his independence — missing out on the activities he loved.
Referred to NovaCare Rehabilitation's Bloomfield center in Pittsburgh through his workers' compensation insurance, Ryan began working with Physical Therapist Lindsay Lehman, who designed a customized treatment plan to help him regain mobility, strength and confidence. His therapy focused on gait training, core stabilization, upper and lower body strengthening and manual therapy.
Lindsay also helped him manage a bladder issue he developed after the accident, addressing all aspects of his recovery. Through hard work and dedication, Ryan has made incredible progress. He’s walking again and feeling great.
“Lindsay went above and beyond to help me," he said. "She recognized that my injuries were severe and gave me the extra attention I needed. I would recommend working with her to my family and friends. The physical therapy assistant, Megan Gmitter, was also great; very friendly and helpful."
Ryan’s journey isn’t over, but he’s on the right path — and we know Colorado is waiting for him. Keep up the great work, Ryan!
