Happy Juneteenth 2021, the first as a federally recognized holiday! In addition to acknowledging and uplifting Juneteenth, it is critical that we acknowledge systemic racism and oppression affecting Black communities as well as Indigenous, Latinx, and other historically oppressed communities, and uplift the efforts to undo these systems of oppression.

Please join us for a virtual premiere of a series of films on mental health created by youth filmmakers in Pittsburgh. In this project, a group of 8 youth across the city were trained to create, analyze, and screen their own films using a research method Collaborative Filmmaking (www.collaborativefilmmaking.com) to explore mental health stressors and supports in their lives. At this event, we will introduce attendees to the Collaborative Filmmaking research method, have the opportunity view short films created by the youth, and to speak with the filmmakers about their creative works. This study, led by Jessie Burke and Sara Baumann of Pitt Public Health Department of Behavioral and Community Health Sciences, was generously supported by the Jewish Healthcare Foundation and a University of Pittsburgh Year of Creativity Grant.
