Coming Soon: Cl Outdoors: Therapy & Learning Center

More than a playground, this outdoor space integrates education, rehabilitation, and behavioral health into a single experiential environment.

Designed for children and youth across The Day School, Physical Health (physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language therapy), and ABA programs, it supports sensory and physical experiences that promote movement, coordination, communication, and social development through structured and natural play.

Fully ADA accessible and intentionally designed for inclusion, this space represents the next evolution of care at The Children's Institute.

Last Thursday's Track & Field Day brought plenty of excitement as students from The Day School enjoyed a day filled with outdoor activities, games, movement, and school spirit.

We are grateful to S&T Bank for sponsoring the event and volunteering, and to Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC for their volunteer support.

Kari Chonko, Director of Finance at The Children's Institute, fondly remembers attending a Kids on the Block show when she was in school. The interactive puppetry show teaches students about disabilities through engaging and informative skits. Recently, she had the opportunity to see the show again, this time with her daughter, a student in the West Jefferson Hills School District.

Last week, The Children's Institute's Gwenn Whiteford attended the 13th Annual Disability & Mental Health Summit at CCAC cohosted by Rep. Jessica Benham and Rep. Emily Kinkead. Over the years, the Summit has made a difference in many lives, bringing together legislators from all sides, supporting families, offering valuable continuing education credits for professionals, and uplifting countless self-advocates and allies.
