Viola Fletcher’s name carried a century of memory, and today, at 111 years old, she has joined the ancestors.

She was just seven when white mobs destroyed Tulsa’s Greenwood district in 1921. She lived long enough to testify before Congress about what she saw. Long enough to watch the world finally call it what it was. Long enough to publish her own story, Don’t Let Them Bury My Story, and ensure her truth would never again be ignored or rewritten. Long enough to become a living monument to resilience.

Mother Fletcher was a witness who refused to be silent, a survivor who deserved far more than apologies, and a Black woman whose very presence reminded us that history still walks among us.

She was the oldest known survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre, and she spent the last years of her life pouring her story into the world, not out of bitterness, but out of duty. Because she knew the power of telling the truth and the danger of letting it fade.

Rest well, Mother Fletcher. May your memory be a blessing, and may we carry your torch with the same courage you carried your truth.

What do you do when life gives you lemons?

I get it! YOU may have had many sour experiences in your life. There are things that were done to you by mommy, daddy and others that have made you not trust people. There are inner battles that you deal with daily. Do you know what I call these sour experiences? I call life’s sour experiences LEMONS. I too dealt with issues and situations that I thought I would never recover from. I battled with self doubt, low self esteem and other falsehoods about myself. I was a teen mother and a single mother. I was handed every bad card life had to offer. It was after facing theses problems that I decided to HANDLE each lemon head on .

I began writing my book. I had no idea it would reach so many and become a best seller. MY truth was able to pe*****te the very walls that so many people built for years. I have not discovered all the answers of life. I am still learning as I GROW and want to encourage others to take this amazing journey of abundant living with me. With self inventory, hard work and perseverance I believe anything is possible. What do you when life’s gives you lemons? Since everyone doesn’t like lemonade ... the answer is you make the MOST of them. YOU CAN LIVE THE LIFE YOU’VE IMAGINED! -Life Coach Lytia Your Accountability Partner
