It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of Linda Brown, a beloved retired Chief Flight Nurse of AHN LifeFlight.

Linda passed away on June 23rd after a short illness. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Lee Brown, and numerous loving family members.

A graduate of Pittsburgh Hospital School of Nursing, Linda dedicated her life to caring for others. She rose to the top of her profession, first as the Manager of the East Suburban Hospital (later Forbes Regional Hospital) Emergency Department, and then as the Chief Flight Nurse for Allegheny General Hospital’s LifeFlight, where she served until her retirement.

But her life was not only defined by her work, she was an animal lover with a house full of them - even a horse looking in the window from time to time! Linda had a love of flowers and all things growing that always kept her busy.

Linda was more than just an excellent clinician; she was a respected friend, known for her ethics, wisdom, and wonderful sense of humor.

Pete Hough, Assistant Chief Flight Nurse, shared a memory of Linda: "Linda was not only a remarkable boss but also a cherished partner. We shared demanding experiences, including one memorable landing at the old Children’s Hospital helipad. As Chief Flight Nurse, Linda fostered camaraderie amongst her team, even tolerating the occasional prank with good humor. I fondly remember visiting her farm and the amusement of seeing her pet pig. Rest in peace, Linda. Your contributions and spirit will not be forgotten. You have taught me so much!"

Linda's contributions to LifeFlight and the countless lives she touched will never be forgotten. She left a lasting impression on all who had the honor to call her a friend and colleague.

A memorial service will be held on July 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Trenz Funeral Home.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Lee and Linda’s entire family during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Linda.

EMS Heat Safety Alert
With the impending heatwave starting today and lasting through Wednesday. We are asking that all EMS personnel and the general public please remember to take extra precautions during this time period.
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: Drink water consistently, even if you don't feel thirsty. Avoid sugary drinks and excessive caffeine.
Stay Safe: Seek shade or air-conditioned environments during peak heat hours when possible. Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing. Be aware of your surroundings and if you are beginning to feel ill, alert your partner.
Community Care: When out on calls, be aware of those around you and check on elderly or at-risk neighbors, friends, and family. A quick phone call or visit can make a big difference.
We're committed to the safety and well-being of our community and team. Stay cool and stay safe!

Let's give a huge shoutout to Andy Turner, our Flight Team Member of the Month!
Andy has been a dedicated flight nurse with LifeFlight for 5 years, serving our Clarion, PA base. Known for his positive attitude and unwavering commitment to patient care, he's a vital part of our team. When he's not in the air, Andy enjoys fishing, hiking, and backpacking with his family in the Clarion area.
While his aircraft was undergoing maintenance at our Butler base during "Bring Your Kid to Work Day," Andy couldn't resist sharing his expertise! He spontaneously taught kids about airway management and even had them practicing intubation on mannequins – they wore out the glidescope battery!
Andy's passion for emergency medicine began in vo-tech school, inspired by his teacher, Mr. Walters, and a personal connection to LifeFlight. Now, he actively contributes to our QA committee, valuing the camaraderie, autonomy, and the opportunity to make a real difference, even on the toughest days. Hearing about positive patient outcomes is what truly motivates him.
Looking ahead, Andy is excited to continue his career with LifeFlight and dreams of a cross-country RV adventure or hiking the Appalachian Trail.
Thank you, Andy, for your unwavering commitment to LifeFlight and our patients. We're incredibly fortunate to have you on our team!
