Our Annual Halloween Decorating Contest is officially underway, and we’re dying to see your frightfully festive flair. Whether you're summoning spooky spirits or crafting cozy autumn vibes, every theme is welcome—from haunted house horrors to whimsical witchy wonderlands. Let's make the Mexican War Streets the Spookiest Neighborhood in the City!

Decorate your space with creativity, creepiness, and charm. Bonus points for originality, interactive elements, and spine-tingling surprises! Start decorating now—outside, upside down, if you dare!

Snap photos of your masterpiece and submit them by Wednesday October 29th by 12 Midnight.

Winners will be crowned in categories like Most Creative, Scariest Scene, Best Use of Pumpkins, and Judge’s Favorite. So, grab your broomsticks, unleash your inner decorator, and let the haunting begin. May the best ghost win!

The garage at the Mexican War Streets home of Beth and John Kocur doesn’t have any vehicles. It does, however, have several comfortable couches and chairs, big screen televisions and a fully stocked bar. The owners call it The Back Alley Drinkery. The Kocurs often open the garage door to

Meet us at 6 PM at Mechanics’ Retreat for our monthly litter cleanup! Weather permitting. Bring a garbage picker or bucket if you have one. Otherwise we will provide pickers and bags for you to use. Please sign up below if you plan to attend!

Regular house tour goers know that Bob Sendall’s garden on Monterey Street is an annual highlight. This year Bob will be showing off the fifth major renovation of his home - a former family owned grocery store dating to 1910 - which features a new patio and refurbished kitchen fitting for his catering company .

Bob and his home are featured in the Post Gazette this week, available at the link in our bio.

Bob has been a mainstay on our tour and we are very fortunate to have him (and his famous Toffee Taboo) as our neighbor in the War Streets. We appreciate all he has done for our tours and his commitment to our neighborhood!
