For those with Parkinson’s who are interested in learning about Deep Brain Stimulation, check out this webinar by one of our community partners Parkinson Foundation Western Pennsylvania
Have you heard on Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS)? 🧠 It is a surgical treatment for advanced Parkinson's disease (PD) that uses an implanted device, like a brain pacemaker, to send electrical signals to specific brain areas, improving motor symptoms (tremor, stiffness, slowness, dyskinesia) that medication struggles to control, extending "on" time, and reducing medication side effects, though it doesn't stop disease progression or help with non-motor issues like speech/memory. It has been shown to drastically improve quality of life and mobility in people with PD.
Join us on Tuesday, February 10th as we hear how Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is more than a surgery – it’s a team effort. This webinar will explain how neurologists, neurosurgeons, and other specialists work together to guide patients and caregivers through every step of the DBS journey, from evaluation to long-term care, with the goal of improving quality of life for people living with Parkinson’s disease.
