After celebrating our 17th year anniversary at “Rescue Training Institute, Inc.”, our team decided it was time to implement new initiatives. There is a need to put a more realistic feeling into how we serve people, not only in New York, but throughout the country and around the world. Over the past few years, you may have seen “check ins” from our staff at various locations whether in then Dominican Republic to California the demand for our services has seen a tremendous rise. It is important to us that as we grow, we stay committed to delivering high quality education to our Prehospital care providers and citizen responders. As we close out our EMS conference season, here at EMS Expo 2018 in Nashville, there is no better time than to officially announce that Rescue Training Institute will now be known as “Rescue Training International”.

New name, new logo, same passion to serve all of you!

So to quickly determine your drip rate using 60gtts tubing when administering a dopamine infusion, you can use the dopamine clock.

Since dopamine is heavily dose dependent, it can be extremely difficult to get a correct dose without an IV pump. You likely won’t be starting a dopamine drip in the field without one, and if you do, you can use this as a guide.
➖➖➖
Depending on the concentration of dopamine, you are either going to reference the black or red numbers.
Using a 200mg/250ml solution reference the black numbers;
15gtts/min will deliver 200mcg/min
30gtts/min will deliver 400mcg/min
45gtts/min will deliver 600mcg/min
60gtts/min will deliver 800mcg/min
If you’re using 400mg/250ml solution, you will double the dose respectively and reference the red numbers.

So if we wanted to give 5mcg/kg/min and our patient is 80kg, we would need to be giving them 400mcg/min.
Using the dopamine clock, we can see this is accomplished in two ways.
