Our Story
Mt. Assisi Place is an 81-bed personal care facility situated on an 11-acre campus, high atop a hillside overlooking beautiful vistas in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh. It is state-licensed, and has been dedicated to professional, respectful care for the elderly since 1970, when it opened as Marian Hall Home as a ministry of the School Sisters of St. Francis.
We provide private, furnished rooms in two buildings that include modern security systems. Each room includes a private bath, individual temperature control, and an emergency call system. Laundry, linen, and housekeeping services are also part of our daily care. Telephones and cable television are available at affordable fees. Residents can bring their own personal furniture, if they desire. Our dining room is open for three restaurant-style meals and two snacks each day. Food is also stocked in resident lounges on each floor.
Individuals in need of personal care for certain activities of daily living require an atmosphere of support, but one that fosters independence as well. The care team at Mt. Assisi Place is dedicated to achieving such balance for the welfare of residents, their family members, and other caregivers.
Residents can receive round-the-clock care under the supervision of our nursing staff. They also enjoy unlimited visitation privileges, both on- and off-campus, which contributes greatly to the family atmosphere of Mt. Assisi Place. The School Sisters of St. Francis coordinate daily masses in our beautiful chapel, enriching the spiritual lives of our residents.
Residents at Mt. Assisi Place typically range in age from their mid-70s to their upper-90s, both female and male. But there is no age requirement. Our administrator discusses each individual situation with each family to determine if Mt. Assisi Place is the right fit. Many are Catholic, and most — but not all — come from the Pittsburgh area. In cases where assisted-living arrangements are appropriate for them, married couples share a room.
