EmpowerMe Star Of The Month! 🌟
Meet Barbara! Barbara has been a resident at The Pines of Mt. Lebanon for several years. Like many elderly, Barbara has significant amount of arthritis that she battles with everyday. But, she does not let it get her down!
Barbara has completed two courses of Physical and Occupational Therapy with EmpowerMe over the last year. During her Physical Therapy sessions with Stacey she works on strengthening, stretching, balance, and coordination exercises specifically designed to target Barabara’s arthiritic areas. Due to the amount of pain Barabara faces, she may not always feel like doing therapy, but she does it anyway and now she is really reaping the benefits. She is able to stand up from a chair easier, reach higher, walk farther, and her balance is much better than when she started her therapy sessions.
Barbara also wanted to work on her memory during her therapy sessions. Rosie our Occupational Therapist provides her strategies to challenge and support her memory throughout the day with calendars, puzzles, and fun quizzes.
Barbara works so hard in her therapy sessions. Despite the pain she has to contend with daily she pushes through and has achieved so many goals. She always leaves therapy feeling better and smiling and that is why we have chosen Barbara as our Star of the Month. Way to go Barbara!
