EmpowerMe Star Of The Month!

Wait until you meet Darlene, our Star of the Month, for January. She is super motivated and truly starting the year off with a bang! Darlene transitioned off hospice services several months ago and onto outpatient therapy. She has been working hard with Stacey and Roise from EmpowerMe doing PT and OT twice a week. She is working on her upper and lower body strength and range of motion along with her core strength, sitting balance, and proprioception. Additionally, Rosie has been helping Darlene with positioning splints to promote her wrist and hand range of motion and comfort.

Darlene has progressed from being bed/chair bound to sitting with supervision at the edge of her broda chair. She is able to perform resisted trunk strengthening exercises and dynamic, functional reaching tasks while weight bearing through her legs in a seated position. Darlene has goals to stand and walk again, and we are excited to continue working with her toward these goals, she is truly an inspiration. Her hard work and determination are why we have chosen her as our Star of the Month for January. Way to go Darlene!

Today, our wonderful resident Wesley welcomed us into his family tradition by showing us how to make his homemade meatball recipe and sharing the beautiful history behind it, from his great grandmother. With help from our Dining Experience Director, Kathleen, everyone got to sample these delicious meatballs—and they did not disappoint! ❤️🍝
