In September, at South Hills Square, some of our residents came together for our poetry reading and writing workshop. We have some published authors who live here, and we feel so honored to have them helping us with our writing! The gatherings are such an enjoyable experience, one that opens each of us up to share our feelings, experiences, past, and hopes. We are so blessed to meet every other month for this wonderful journey of exploration, reading, and sharing! Everyone is encouraged to join and meet, even if it is just for some listening and learning!

At Resort Lifestyle Communities, our residents who volunteer are so important to us! They help out in so many ways to ensure that our projects and events get done, on time and we all have fun in the spirit of togetherness! Here at South Hills Square, we honored our volunteers with a pizza party luncheon, and we had a blast!

And of course, for the pizza party (with them being the best volunteers around), they helped decorate, set up, and clean up! This Lifestyle Director is so grateful to have such an amazing group of residents to help out with all of our activities. Volunteering is one of the great ways of being a resident at any of our communities. Keep up the great work everyone! ❤️

Recently, our chef conducted a cooking demonstration for some of the residents who participated in the Senior Olympics as a team, and they won a cooking class! Chef John Panucci prepared crepes and crab cakes, and the residents got to watch and then eat the delicious food! It was a wonderful time of community and gathering as a winning team, which now inspires the other residents to strive for victory even more! Congratulations, team, on a well-played game!

The residents at South Hills Square love to go out on the bus with the Lifestyle Director to many different types of events! Here are some of them at the Pittsburgh National Aviary experiencing up close and personal encounters with the birds! It was such a fun outing to attend together and to go out freely into each room while our feathered friends flew all around us and came up to us! We all left with big smiles on our faces! Nature enhances our hearts and minds to feel more deeply connected to life!

Grandparent Day at South Hills Square was a delightful afternoon of food, family, and fun! The Kona Ice truck was here to provide shaved ice, the Balloon Guy came to create balloon shapes and animals, the food was fantastic thanks to Chef John, and many of the families stayed to watch the Steelers opener and cheer on a win! We are all so blessed to have our families join us and also consider the residents of our community as family!
