David passed away peacefully watching the sunset over the pond in his backyard surrounded by his wife and his daughters. David has gone to be with God, his parents, his father-in-law, and his dog, Buster.

As his initials would predict, David was the ultimate D.A.D. giving the best life to his two daughters and being the father figure for many nieces and nephews. David married the love of his life, Kelly, and spent 32 years being her prince charming.

David dedicated 32 years at UPS. After retiring from UPS, he spent the past 12 years at South Hills Country Club becoming one of the member’s favorite employees. He took pride in caring for his family and hosting parties at his home to share memories with his family and close friends.

David loved animals and rescued many cats and dogs from the streets of Mt Washington, Scott Township, and the Humane Society. He also cared deeply for the animals in his backyard and often fed apples to the neighborhood deer. The deer of Scott Township say they still miss him to this day.

David was survived by his wife Kelly Davis; daughters Chelsea (Michael) Chizewick and Caitlin Davis (Bailey Underwood). Son of the late Patrick and Elizabeth Davis. Loving bother to Ralph (Denise) Davis, Patrick (Debra) Davis, Judy (Bill) Rotthoff, Edward Davis and Anna (Paul) Squilla. Son in Law to Jody and the late David McElhinny, Brother-in-Law to Bonnie McElhinny, Maureen (Fred) Minard and the late Dave McElhinny. Revered Uncle to many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his fur baby Gracie. The family would like to extend a special thank you to AHN Cancer Institute in Robinson and AHN Hospice Service for all the special care that was given to him.

A viewing will be held at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15220 on Sunday February 4th, 2024, from 2pm to 7pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Corneila Connelly Educational Center, the Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.

Dolores Marie (Zamorosky) Assetta, age 94 of Mt. Lebanon and formerly Irwin, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Born on November 14, 1929 in Pittsburgh, she is the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Zamorosky. Beloved wife for 56 years to the late Dr. Ralph V. Assetta; loving mother of Mary Christine and Vincent (Marcie); cherished grandmother of Gabrielle Maria, Agnes, Anthony Radek, Mateusz and great grandmother of Ashlinn, Olivia, and Kennedy; and “honorary” mother to “second daughter” and caregiver Lynn Cherry.

Dolores was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She loved preparing for elaborate holiday gatherings and cooking everyone’s favorite meals. She also enjoyed treating her family and friends to dinner at their favorite restaurants and buying thoughtful gifts that made all feel special. Dolores was a faithful individual who taught her family about faith in God above all things and loved to pray the Rosary with her daughter. All who knew Dolores were taken by her generous, kind nature.

Dolores was an avid Steeler fan and never missed a game. She also loved watching her favorite old time musicals and listening to Broadway CDs and knew the dialogue of every movie and lyrics to every song. She had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with her granddaughter Gabrielle as they teased each other and made each other laugh. Even though Gabrielle lives in Boston, she face timed Grandma every day to tell her something funny to bring a smile to her face.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gallagher Home Health Services and Gallagher Hospice, as well as the nurses and doctors at St. Clair Hospital for their special care of Dolores and for the support they provided to her loved ones. The family would especially like to thank “second daughter” and caregiver Lynn Cherry who loved and cared for Dolores in such a special way.

Private arrangements are entrusted to WILLIAM SLATER FUNERAL SERVICE, Scott Twp. (412-563-2800).

01/26/2024

Charles E. Weaver, 82, passed away peacefully at his home on December 23rd, 2023, in the company of his loving family.

Born December 24th, 1940, in Greensburg, PA, he was the eldest son of the late Charles O. and Anna (Hensler) Weaver. He was raised in North Irwin and often reminisced of his idyllic small-town childhood. Chuck graduated from Irwin High School in 1958. He attended California State College (PA), where he was a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity and earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. Initially a Math Teacher, he later obtained a postgraduate Business degree from Duquesne University. He briefly worked as an analyst with US Steel and an Office Manager at Hon Furniture, where he met his wife, Fran. Most of his career was focused on computers and data systems technology. He retired from Highmark Inc. as a Technical Consultant in 2006.

Chuck was a humble man of countless talents. Always well read, he was a trivia savant. He had an uncanny knack for memorizing dates and numbers. He took genuine pride in a well-kept baseball scorebook. His wonderful sense of humor combined sarcasm and wit with sufficient slapstick. He was a handyman in the theoretical sense, beginning many a home project and even finishing a few. In summers, he tended to an abundant garden overflowing with fresh tomatoes and zucchini. Breakfast was his culinary specialty. He fried perfect dippy eggs. Later in life, he developed an affinity for birdwatching. Many quiet days were spent relaxing on the back deck of the family home until sunset; admiring nature and reflecting on a life well lived.

Chuck was a lifelong avid sports fan. He loyally supported all the local Pittsburgh teams. In his youth, he frequented Pirates games at Forbes Field and Three Rivers Stadium. He was particularly passionate about the Steelers and traveled to New Orleans for the team’s first Super Bowl win in 1975. Notre Dame football was a household tradition with autumn Saturdays dedicated to cheering on the Fighting Irish. Golf was his favorite hobby, however. He played in a league at Frosty Valley golf course in Upper St. Clair for many years. Memorably, he once won a brand-new car by hitting a hole-in-one during a charity golf outing.

Above all else, Chuck was a devoted family man. His principle characteristic was his unwavering and unconditional love for his wife of 43 years, Fran. He was a kind and benevolent father, generous with his time and his wisdom. The affection he felt for his grandchildren was so overwhelming it often left him speechless. Chuck was a compassionate man of faith and noble ideals who inspired tremendous admiration from his loved ones.

Chuck is survived by his beloved wife, Frances (Ksiazek) Weaver, whom he married on August 9th, 1980; his two sons, Kenneth and Christian Weaver of Pittsburgh; two grandsons, John Charles “Jack” and James Weaver of Pittsburgh; sister Susanne Weaver of Texas; and sister-in-law Paula (Macabobby) Weaver of Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard D. Weaver.

There are no calling hours or services planned. Chuck was a loving husband, father and ‘grandpap.’ He will be missed dearly and remembered always. Arrangements entrusted to WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE (412-563-2800) Scott Township.
