The Neuromuscular Research Laboratory (NMRL) is the applied research facility of the Department of Sports Medicine and Nutrition, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences of the University of Pittsburgh. Evan Feigel successfully defended his dissertation, “Quantifying Allostatic Load Using Biomarker and Wearable-Based Methods and Assessing Its Association with Musculoskeletal, Physical, and Psychological Responses During Military Training”, this morning! We are so proud of you, congratulations Dr. Feigel. 🎓🎉🎊

We’d like to recognize 3 research assistants who are moving on from the lab to continue their education!

Livia Wunderlich is pursuing her PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Colorado Boulder! Liv was a huge part of our bone physiology team and truly mastered the HR-pQCT. (also thank you for being our blood draw savior!!!)

Daniella Santucci will be pursuing her Law degree while also obtaining a Master of Science in Biochemistry at Case Western University! Daniella worked primarily in the wet lab and has run over 100 plates!

Ben Parker will be pursuing a Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Science at the University of Cincinnati! Ben was a part of the performance team at the NMRL and has led 3 iterations as an ARMOR trainer.

Thank you all for your efforts throughout your time at the NMRL. Now go be great!

Highlights: Dr. Kristen Koltun was recognized as a Fellow of ACSM, Dr. Nindl’s symposium on energy deficiency in the military, a group photo with Dr. Brooks, and the Red Sox vs Braves baseball game!

BIA & VO2 Max tests test will be offered on January 4 from 7-11 AM, with the registration period running from 12/13/2024 to 12/19/2024. BIA tests are available between 7-8am. VO2 Max tests are available between 8:15-11am. Please denote your preferred time and we will do our best to accommodate.

All attendees enjoyed a delightful array of sweet treats, fresh fruits, drinks, and music 🎵. Thank you to the organizers for putting together such a wonderful event and for the great time!
