It’s easy to confuse eczema (dermatitis) and psoriasis because both are chronic skin conditions that cause red, inflamed skin. But they have distinct causes and symptoms.

Let’s break it down:

Eczema
• Appearance: Red, itchy patches that are often dry and inflamed.
• Causes: Triggered by allergens, irritants, or stress, eczema tends to flare up in response to these external factors.

Psoriasis
• Appearance: Thick, silvery scales on red, inflamed skin.
• Causes: The immune system mistakenly attacks healthy skin cells, speeding up skin turnover and causing these visible patches.

🧴 Treatment
For both conditions, corticosteroids like Betamethasone, Clobetasol, Fluocinonide, and Halobetasol can help reduce inflammation and soothe flare-ups. For patients seeking gentler options, Tacrolimus (a non-steroidal treatment) is also effective.
