It can cause everyone in the restaurant to speak loudly, thus further increasing the ambient noise level. In some establishments, live music may be the focus and expected. But in many instances, the additional noise contributes to a poor dining experience, especially when combined with poor room acoustics.

One of the most important acoustic design elements within a workplace is the intrusion of intelligible speech between enclosed spaces and from enclosed spaces to open collaboration areas. Speech privacy between private offices is also important, as it can also yield a different expectation.

A well-designed and tuned sound masking system can achieve an appropriate amount of speech privacy, which ultimately leads to occupant satisfaction.

Jeff is having a great time at the League of Historic American Theatres conference right here in Pittsburgh at the William Penn Hotel! The Urban Room, pictured below, was designed by legendary designer Joseph Urban, who was responsible for bringing New York sophistication to Pittsburgh.
