Dawndra Jones DNP, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN has been with UPMC for over 34 years working in multiple positions spanning from staff nurse to various leadership and executive positions. She has been a Chief Nursing Officer within UPMC since 2014. In May 2021, she became the VP of Patient Care Services and CNO of UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital. She is a national conference speaker on various topics including Nurse Manager Scope and Span of Control, diversity & inclusion, leadership development, population health and women’s health. Dr. Jones received her bachelor's and master’s degrees in nursing from Carlow University and a DNP in nursing administration with a minor in nursing informatics from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Jones holds a Nurse Executive Advance certification, and she is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. She previously served on the FDA Peripheral and Central Nervous System Advisory Committee and is a current member of American Organization of Nurse Leaders, and ANA. She is a past president of the Pittsburgh Black Nurses in Action (PBNIA), the local chapter of the NBNA (lifetime member). Under her leadership, PBNIA established the Future Nurses Academy, a mentorship program for diverse nursing students. Dr. Jones has received numerous awards including recipient of the Pennsylvania Nightingale Award in the CNO/Executive category, ranked 23rd by Talk Magazine’s 100 Most Influential African American Pennsylvanians, received the Pittsburgh Courier’s Women of Excellence Award and the Pittsburgh Magazine’s Nursing Excellence in Leadership Award. In 2023 and 2024 she was recognized on Becker’s list of Black Healthcare Leaders to Know.
