The Rooted Way

The Rooted Way Wellness Services for Those Seeking Whole Health Care. ((Previously known as Pittsburgh Psychotherapy Associates.))

At Pittsburgh Psychotherapy Associates therapy is, at its very core, a collaborative effort between the therapist and the client. This process sheds light upon how we are, who we are, and gives people a greater understanding about living as fully, authentically, and compassionately as possible. People who seek therapy often do so because they desire to encounter life in a richer, more meaningful way. Others may be coping with a life problem or issue that has them feeling "stuck." Whatever the reasons people choose therapy, it is possible for them to transform negative attitudes toward living and make some quite astonishing and lifelong changes. Although the focus is on the relationship, there are many other aspects of therapy which contribute to the healing and growth process. At Pittsburgh Psychotherapy Associates, our therapists have experience in symptom management and application of techniques associated with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectic behavioral therapy (DBT) as well as psychodynamic and family systems therapy. Our goal is to help facilitate and nurture change in the attitudes, choices, behaviors, and thoughts of our clients through awareness, increased understanding and authenticity. Appointments are now available on weekdays, evenings and weekends for individual psychotherapy for adults, children and teenagers, marital and couples counseling, and family therapy. The path to wellness begins with the first step. Contact us today:

Your body is not just flesh and bones—it’s a living journal that records every unspoken word, every suppressed feeling, and every unhealed wound. What the mind tries to bury, the body quietly carries.

Here’s where emotions often hide:

🔹 Throat – When you silence yourself, hold back your truth, or swallow your feelings, tension collects here. That tightness in your throat, the sore voice, the urge to constantly clear it—it’s your body asking you to finally speak.

🔹 Shoulders & Neck – The “weight of the world” is not just a phrase. Stress, duties, and endless responsibilities pile up here. That stiffness you feel? It’s your body telling you to put some burdens down.

🔹 Chest/Heart – Grief, heartbreak, and deep sadness lodge in the chest. A “heavy heart” is more than poetry; it’s a real, physical experience of carrying unexpressed sorrow.

🔹 Stomach & Gut – Anxiety, fear, and constant worry upset digestion. Your gut is called the “second brain” for a reason—it feels every storm of your emotions.

🔹 Hips – Trauma and fear often settle here, especially from experiences we never fully processed. Tight hips sometimes tell stories the mouth never could.

🔹 Jaw – Teeth grinding, clenching, or tension in the jaw is often unspoken anger, frustration, or words we were too afraid to release.

🔹 Lower Back – Feelings of lack, insecurity, or not being supported in life often show up here. Financial struggles and fear of failure can literally weigh on your spine.

🔹 Head – Overthinking, constant pressure to achieve, and mental overload lead to headaches and tension in the scalp.

✨ Lesson: The body remembers what the mind forgets. When we don’t process emotions, they don’t disappear—they simply move in and take up space in our physical form.

🌸 Healing begins when we listen. Breathe deeply. Move consciously. Cry when you must. Speak your truth. Release what no longer serves you.

As the Buddha taught: “Holding onto anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else—you are the one who gets burned.”

🕊 Free your emotions. Free your body. Free your spirit.

If what you need is healing, don’t reach for AI to support you. Healing is found through the connection and relationship between therapist and client NOT a chatbot.

It is quite important that we understand the difference between receiving treatment with a licensed, trained professional versus using chatbots to assist us in our mental health.

While it is understandable that answers from AI can feel like a quick "fix," it will not provide you with the care and understanding of a clinician.

The whole point of therapy is the relationship between the therapist and the client. -- True healing happens within the relationship between the therapist and client.

Please be mindful about how you utilize chatbots. They are designed to give you information, not bedside manner, unconditional positive regard, or build a rapport with you.

We hope that in the coming months and years, we are able to encourage others and feel encouraged to make decisions and receive treatment in our health alongside trusted professionals, not AI.💚❤️‍🩹

Unlike mental health professionals, chatbots are designed to keep you engaged—not necessarily to support your well-being.

Our Story

At Pittsburgh Psychotherapy Associates, we believe in focusing on the whole health of each individual who works with us. Our company began as a practice that provided mental health therapy and has begun to expand into assisting our community in overall health.

Therapy is, at its very core, a collaborative effort between the therapist and the client.

We are beginning to provide other non-traditional forms of wellness, such as workshops, groups, yoga, fitness-focused gatherings, and meditation. Appointments are now available on weekdays, evenings, and weekends for individual psychotherapy for adults, children and teenagers, marital and couples counseling, and family therapy. The path to wellness begins with the first step. Contact us today: Pittsburgh Psychotherapy Associates, LLC (412) 367-0575
