Go Brandi Lee! Strong community advocates are much needed!

🎉 Introducing our newest Community Health Advocates! 🎉

In October 2017, Healthy Start partnered with the Allegheny County Health Department to pilot the Community Health Advocacy Program to train a small cohort of single mothers of color on topics related to public health, leadership, community organizing, and advocacy.

✨ Fast forward 5 years, and we can't believe we're celebrating our EIGHTH COHORT ✨

Community Health Advocates, you inspire us.
❣️ You are trusted members of your community.
👐🏾 You help people gain access to health and social services.
🌎 You build individual, community, and system capacity.
💡 You increase health knowledge and self-sufficiency.

We are excited to see your experience and expertise shine through in future activities such as outreach, community health education, informal counseling, social support, and advocacy.

Bessel van der Kolk’s best-selling book, The Body Keeps the Score, has propelled the study of trauma-informed treatment to the forefront of the field of psychology. For this year’s Trauma Conference, Dr, van der Kolk has carefully selected some of the best researchers in the field, including Ruth Lanius, Cathy Malchiodi, Karlen Lyons-Ruth, Tania Singer, Resmaa Menakam, Frank Corrigan, Deborah Korn, Rick Doblin, Michael Mithoefer, V (formerly Eve Ensler), Tina Champagne, Matthew Sanford, Patricia Vickers, and others to present their discoveries on topics including:

👉 Long term impacts of childhood abandonment

👉 The latest data from psychedelic treatment studies

👉 Treating trauma that results from long-term systemic racism

And much more!

Throughout the four day event, you will be immersed in the latest research surrounding the relationship among the emotional, cognitive, social and biological forces that shape human development. This conference will present both basic research about the impact of trauma over the life cycle, and a range of effective interventions that are being practiced in clinics, schools, prisons, families, and communities around the world.

Your registration will include all four conference days with instant replays of sessions, 30-days of unlimited access, session handouts to take home, live discussion groups, movement sessions, full entry to the exhibit hall where you can interact with sponsors and the official conference bookstore with attendee-only pricing on speaker books, clinical resources, and more!
