CLIENT CORNER! Bernadette* had trouble expressing herself in social situations, which made it difficult for her to form peer relationships. As a teenager, this social anxiety made it difficult for her to focus on her schoolwork. After deciding to pursue therapy, Bernadette chose Familylinks as her provider. She worked closely with her therapist, attending sessions twice a week throughout the rest of high school. Bernadette later reached out to her therapist to let her know that she was a member of several student organizations and was maintaining passing grades while in college. *Names and images do not reflect actual clients of Familylinks.

CLIENT CORNER! Sonia* came to Familylinks’ Girls’ Emergency Shelter with a history of severe trauma, leading her to act out physically and have poor respect for boundaries. With the support of Familylinks’ staff, Sonia began to see her own worth and how healthy relationships with others can lead to positive outcomes. Sonia successfully left the shelter and moved in with her family. Upon leaving the shelter, Sonia wrote a letter expressing her appreciation to staff for “showing me how real adults behave” and “taking the time to listen to me even when you didn’t have it to spare.” Sonia stated, in closing, “if you put all the stars in the billions of universes together, it still wouldn’t amount to the appreciation I have for you.” *Names and images do not represent actual clients of Familylinks.

He expressed feeling as if his needs were not being heard or respected. Familylinks’ Supports Coordination team met with Isaac and worked to obtain the technology resources that would best advance Isaac’s independence.
