Serving nearly 9,000 people annually, Familylinks offers a variety of family-centered services in the areas of Behavioral Health, Youth & Family Services, Service Coordination and Senior Services.

Familylinks’ Downtown Outreach Center and Shelter (DOCS) has been supporting young adults experiencing homelessness for 40 years, like Sheree*. After leaving her parents’ home due to abuse and neglect issues, Sheree didn’t know where to turn. After speaking with other peers experiencing homelessness, Sheree was directed to DOCS. While there, Sheree was able to begin processing some of her trauma and apply for employment. Sheree is currently in the process of locating independent housing. This World Homeless Day, we invite you to help reduce stigma and expand empathy. STAFF SPOTLIGHT! Louis Amendola is a Program Manager for Familylinks’ Youth and Family Services and has been in this role for one year. Louis ensures that the services provided are culturally competent and aligned with agency and regulatory standards. Louis also oversees staff supervision, training, program operations, and outcome monitoring to promote continuous improvement within the program. Louis states that he enjoys the opportunity to create a safe environment for at-risk youth while guiding and supporting staff to provide the highest quality of care. In his free time, Louis can be found cheering on his daughter’s travel softball team or in the stands for his son’s boxing and wrestling matches.

Familylinks’ Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) program, located at 2644 Banksville Road, is accepting new referrals. We have immediate openings for full- or half-day options, and we offer individual and small-group ABA therapy. Our clinic is designed to mimic a preschool environment, facilitating the transfer of skills essential for school readiness. STAFF SPOTLIGHT! Lauren Hohman is a Care Manager for our Options program and has been with Familylinks for two years. In her role, Lauren has helped older adults connect with supports such as home-delivered meals, home-making aides, and personal emergency response systems. Lauren takes pride in helping her clients find the resources they need, and she enjoys being part of a caring, kind team. In her free time, Lauren can be found playing with her three dogs or catching the latest movie with her boyfriend.

CLIENT CORNER! Curtis entered Familylinks’ Pathways program and began working diligently to build trust and develop healthier coping mechanisms. With determination and the steady support of staff, Curtis began to make real progress. Two years later, Curtis was able to transition to a less intensive program, where he shared space with his peers for the first time since entering Familylinks. Curtis never gave up on his personal growth, and he successfully transitioned to the Horizon program, where his progress truly flourished. Curtis graduated from high school, secured full-time employment, prepared for college, and is now ready to live independently. Last Friday, our Community Collaboration Committee hosted a Carnival Fun Fair. Staff had the opportunity to try their hand at a few carnival games and created a tree of hands that supports the work done at Familylinks. Casey works with data to support the quality and compliance functions of Familylinks. Casey enjoys utilizing data to solve problems and efficiently support Familylinks’ programs, thereby achieving their goals. In her free time, Casey is a nature photographer and can also be found snowboarding, playing guitar, or watching movies.
