Enrollment ends Friday May 9th (enrollment link in comments). The Birthing Hut Blacktivist BirthKeeper Q&A
Q: Is this a full training program where I would be able to be bedside after completing the course ?
A: Yes, our comprehensive training prepares students to be able to provide prenatal and postpartum support after graduation. After graduation students are considered “trained birth workers” , then students are encouraged to complete their certification process.
Q: Is this a birth or postpartum training ?
A: Our training is a full spectrum training, birth and postpartum training. Completion of the program gives you a certificate as a full spectrum birthkeeper.
Q: How long is the training ?
A: Training is from May 13 - June 24 2025, every Tuesday from 3pm - 5pm, 7 weeks with graduation being June 28.
Q: What’s next after graduation ?
A: After training, students are encouraged to join Traditional Birth Libations, our Black Birth Worker Collective. Our national collective supports and encourages professional development, networking, community engagement and collaboration. The Birthing Hut also offers mentoring and contractual opportunities.
Q: I’m already a certified doula, would you suggest I take your training ?
A: Yes , birth work is an ever evolving profession, skill development, and continued education is strongly advised. One training can never teach all you need to know to prepare yourself as a birth worker.
Q: Are scholarships available ?
A: Fortunately we received funding to decrease our tuition costs. Your investment in your education is now $222
