In the McLaughlin classroom, students enjoyed a story for Black History Month about Ida Van Smith, a trailblazing pilot and flight instructor. After learning about her courage and determination, students were asked a simple but powerful question:

“Do you want to learn to fly?”

A lot of the answers received were "yes!'

Learning didn’t stop there! Some classrooms are decorating doors in honor of Black History Month — each one reflecting the importance of this part of our history.

We are so proud of our students for engaging thoughtfully, asking questions, and daring to dream big. When students see stories of strength and success, they begin to see it in themselves. # ❤️🖤💚 ,

Yesterday, we shared how our Girls Group is helping students grow in self-confidence.

Now we’re seeing that confidence ripple outward.

Our high school students are spending time with our younger students — modeling leadership, patience, and kindness through activities and in other ways.

When students believe in themselves, they naturally lift others up. Our younger students gain confidence through these role models, and our high schoolers strengthen their own leadership skills through connection and care.

This is how confidence grows — and how a supportive school community is built. 💛

In the newly formed Girls Groups, students are learning the power of self-confidence — believing in themselves, using their voices, and supporting one another along the way.

Through activities, conversations, and encouraging friendships, they are growing stronger in who they are and how they show up in the world.

When girls build self-confidence, they begin to share kindness, courage, and compassion — in their classrooms and beyond.

Confidence isn’t something you’re simply given. It’s something you grow — together. 🌸

Our CEO of Pace School, Dr. Amira McLemore Wolfson is featured in a special edition of Pittsburgh Parent Magazine as a “Parent You Should Know”—an honor that speaks not only to her professional leadership, but to who she is at her core.

As both a parent and an advocate, Dr. Wolfson brings a deeply personal understanding of what families need when navigating education, support, and hope for their children. That lived experience shapes how she leads Pace School every day—with compassion, vision, and an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of our students and their families.

Those who work alongside her see it firsthand: decisions rooted in empathy, a focus on partnership with families, and a belief that every child deserves to be understood, supported, and celebrated for who they are.

We are incredibly grateful for her leadership and proud to share her story—and the heart behind her work—recognized beyond our school community. 💙

We love seeing how the Pace School community continues to ripple outward in meaningful ways. 💙

Recently, a former Pace School staff member shared how his time with us continues to shape the work he does today within a local school district. The lessons learned at Pace—meeting students where they are, leading with compassion, and believing in every child’s potential—don’t stay within our walls. They travel with our educators, influencing countless students and families long after their time here.

That lasting impact is also reflected in the incredible leadership we’re fortunate to have right now. Coming soon, we’ll be highlighting a current Pace School administrator who many of you know and admire—someone who leads with heart, purpose, and a deep understanding of what it means to partner with families. As a parent herself, she knows firsthand the hopes, challenges, and determination that come with advocating for a child.

Her story, and the work she does every day to help improve the lives of our students and their families, is featured in Pittsburgh Parent Magazine. We can’t wait to share it with you.

Stay tuned—because Pace School’s impact is built on the people who carry our mission forward, yesterday and today. 💙
