Seems everyone these days is coming in with neck and shoulder issues right? We all know what its from, but lets discuss what it can actually DO.

1. Over time, you may develop a hunchback. This is because your spine is now curving more and differently than it was designed to do, and now your muscles need to adapt to accomodate that posture.

2. It may increase headache frequency as muscles that attach right below your skull, or close to it will be strained, holding more weight than they were designed for.

3. As a side effect, your shoulders will curves forward, creating tightness in your chest muscles, and over extension in your back muscles. This imbalance leads to soreness and pain.

Yes- massage can help. But it certainly will not help if we do not try to reverse the behavior that created it in the first place. Massage can alleviate the pain you feel in the back of your neck, and also relieve the tightness in the front. With these two focused areas being worked on, you will have an easier experience re-training your muscles to be in proper alignment.

The article below offers some great knowledge on what exactly is affected, and what YOU can do at home to correct it. Give it a read and reach out to me with any questions!

And I bet they are fixing, adding and eliminating bricks!☝️ Hear me out…
Do you think, that when they decided they needed a city, that they just started building all at once? HECK NO! So when you decide you need something, you need to plan for it. 🗓️

If you are changing, adding or eliminating anything from your personal an professional life, it HAS to start at square one. (Most of you are saying “duh” right now… I can hear it.)

Think back on the last time you had any chaotic, or confusing time in your life. Was there any aspect of that experience that could’ve used a little more direct planning? Would that have helped? Could’ve been an overall great experience, or one that you’d rather not have again.

🤫You cannot “build” your health in a day, overnight, or even in a year. It’s constant change, and even when you reach an acceptable baseline or goal, there are aspects that will ebb and flow. Regardless of the reason why you are having difficulty achieving a certain goal, there is ALWAYS a way to approach it meaningfully, with intention, to provide the best result possible.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and either are you. 🤗

Let's talk scientific benefits of massage... all the nitty gritty details!

🤓While the method used was mechanical loading, in the form or a robotic massage "gun" style, this machine was designed to mimic massage applications, so this does present scientific evidence that mechanical loading, as well as other massage techniques does in fact help with muscle fiber regeneration.

🤔And yes, this was performed on mice for control and ability to provide accurate tissue activity, cellular and DNA activity.

It's a GREAT read... trust me.

Where are my side sleepers? 😜 Let's grab a little edumacation. (I've submitted it for Webster approval, don't worry).

While maybe the most popular and comfy, this position causes pain points that effect your sleep. As a massage therapist, we can certainly tackle these pain points to support relief, but we can't fix it. YOU can though! Humor me a little...

Stand up straight, arms at your sides. This is what I refer to as "home base". ALWAYS GO TO HOME BASE. What we WANT to achieve, (if we are going to collectively be stubborn about not changing positions) is as close to home base as possible.

1. Pillow between your knees
2. Legs straight-er... not fetal position
3. Head & neck 90 degrees

Oh, and ditch those 3 pillows you have under your head. Hold one of them to your chest instead!
