We are excited to announce Mind Matters: A Four-Part Series Confronting the Mental Health Crisis Across Western Pennsylvania!
Mind Matters examines the mental health challenges facing individuals and families across Western PA — and a guide to the resources, experts, and solutions that can help.
This landmark four-part news series paired with four free community town hall events will be reported by WESA Health & Science Reporter Kiley Koscinski and edited by Glynis Board.
Airing across multiple weeks through the summer, each segment is accompanied by a corresponding town hall forum held in communities throughout Allegheny, Washington, Westmoreland, and Butler counties. The town halls feature expert panelists, bringing mental health professionals, advocates, and lived-experience voices directly into the heart of the community.
- Youth and Mental Health reporting airs the week of April 27th with the first town hall event on April 30th at Commonwealth Charter Academy in Homestead
- Caregiver Mental Health reporting airs the week of July 20th with the town hall on July 23rd at Frank Sarris Library in Canonsburg
- Mental Health in Rural Western PA airs the week of Aug. 17th with the town hall on Aug. 20th at Westmoreland Community College in Youngwood
- AI in Mental Health air the week of Sept. 14th with the town hall on Sept. 17th at Commonwealth Charter Academy in Cranberry
