On this day 23 years ago...246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for their morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. Not a single one of them saw past 10:00am on September 11, 2001.

Friends, in one single moment life can change and may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take in today and before you go to sleep tonight in preparation for tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle them a little bit tighter, and never take even a second of your life for granted. One of our Streams’ Dads, Sam Kane, has been organizing a fundraising event that benefits pediatric cancer research for 16 years. This year’s event hits closer to home and is dedicated to the Brooks Murphy Family. It is a unique fundraiser where participants have their heads shaved, in solidarity and support of kids who may lose their hair during cancer treatment.

The St. Baldrick's Foundation is the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, granting over $340 million USD in childhood cancer research since 2005.

Since its start, locally more than $1 million USD has been granted to UPMC Children’s Hospital and the University of Pittsburgh for life-saving research.



WHO: Anyone who wants to either pledge to having their head shaved, attend the event, or donate on-line

WHY: St. Badrick’s mission: The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer and donor powered charity committed to supporting the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives.
