Mission Statement:
At Emergency Medical Services Committee of Berkshire County, our mission is to support and uplift the EMS community by providing compassionate care, critical resources, and unwavering support to first responders and their families. Built on the principle of Caring for Our Own, we are dedicated to promoting the well-being, resilience, and professional development of those who dedicate their lives to saving others. Emergency Medical Services Corporation of Berkshire County (EMSCO) is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation committed to improving the delivery of emergency medical services to the residents of Berkshire County. As a direct extension of the Region 1 office, located in Northampton, Massachusetts, and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, EMSCO coordinates communication and enhances the efficiency of providers of EMS including ambulance services, first responders, fire departments, law enforcement, and hospital emergency departments. Through its work, EMSCO evaluates, propagates and, in some case, sets standards of quality for local EMS, offering training, education and medical services research opportunities and developing appropriate protocols and policies for implementation. As a county-wide corporation, EMSCO seeks regular input and broad representation on its committee from the communities it serves. This includes, but is not limited to municipal governments, hospitals, ambulance services and other providers of emergency medical services within Berkshire County

Big congratulations to County Ambulance Supervisor Austin White on being recognized by Berkshire Community College as one of this year’s Forty Under Forty!

This is a well-earned honor that reflects Austin’s dedication, leadership, and commitment to serving our community every single day. We’re proud to have him representing County Ambulance and raising the bar for EMS professionals across the region.

We also want to extend a sincere thank you to Austin for designating EMSCO as the recipient of the $1,000 donation associated with this recognition. The Emergency Medical Services Committee of Berkshire County (EMSCO) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to strengthening the delivery of prehospital emergency care throughout Berkshire County. Our mission is to support and uplift the EMS community by providing compassionate care, critical resources, and unwavering support to first responders and their families. Built on the principle of “Caring for Our Own,” EMSCO works to promote the well-being, resilience, and professional development of those who dedicate their lives to saving others.
On May 15, 2026, EMSCO will host our Annual EMS Awards Banquet—an evening that honors the dedication and heroism of our region’s emergency responders. This event celebrates not only the providers who respond to our community’s most urgent needs but also recognizes community members and survivors who have shown extraordinary courage. Last year, EMSCO was proud to host and support nearly 200 EMS providers, representing agencies and departments from across Berkshire County.

As we prepare for this year’s event, we are seeking corporate sponsors to help fund the ongoing mission of EMSCO. Your financial contribution directly supports initiatives that ensure our local EMS professionals have the recognition, resources, and training they deserve. In addition to helping us host this year’s awards banquet, your contribution will continue to support a dedicated fund for financial relief and educational support to local first responders in times of need.
Your sponsorship demonstrates your organization’s commitment to public safety and community well-being. Funds raised will offset event costs, provide continuing education and wellness opportunities for providers, and sustain our year-round efforts to care for those who care for our community. In appreciation of your support, EMSCO will proudly recognize all sponsors in our event program and promotional materials, with a tiered sponsorship structure outlined below.

If you would like to contribute or learn more about sponsorship opportunities, please contact us at berkshireemscoawards@gmail.com.

💙 In Memoriam – Paramedic Bruce Stump 💙
It is with deep sadness that County Ambulance announces the passing of retired Training Supervisor and Paramedic Bruce Stump.
Bruce was a proud U.S. Navy veteran and a highly respected Paramedic, known throughout the Western Massachusetts EMS community. During his career, he shaped countless providers through his leadership, instruction, and mentorship. In Berkshire County EMS, Bruce wasn’t just a trainer — he was a steady voice, a trusted mentor, and someone many of us learned from and looked up to.
Above all, Bruce was a proud father of three sons, and his dedication to family mirrored the commitment he showed to his profession and to those he mentored.
Bruce’s impact on EMS and on the people around him will not be forgotten. He will be deeply missed by colleagues, friends, and the many providers whose careers he influenced.
Arrangements are incomplete at this time. We will share additional information as it becomes available.
Please keep Bruce’s family and loved ones in your thoughts during this difficult time.

🫀 National CPR and AED Awareness Week | June 1–7 🫀

This week, we’re joining the nation in recognizing the importance of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) training. Every second counts in a cardiac emergency — and knowing how to respond can save a life.

🚑 Did you know? Immediate CPR can double or even triple a person’s chance of survival during sudden cardiac arrest.

👉 Whether you’re a healthcare provider or a bystander, learning CPR is simple, powerful, and essential. Hands-only CPR takes just minutes to learn — and you could be someone’s hero.

💡 This week, take the time to:
✔️ Learn CPR
✔️ Locate your nearest AED
✔️ Encourage friends and family to get trained

Let’s build a stronger, safer community — one heartbeat at a time. ❤️

🕯️ EMS REMEMBRANCE DAY – Honoring Our Fallen 🕯️

On this final day of EMS Week, we pause to reflect and remember the brave EMS providers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

These heroes answered the call to serve, risking their lives to save others. Today, we honor their memory, their courage, and their dedication to the communities they so selflessly protected.

To the families, friends, and colleagues who carry their legacy forward – you are not alone. We stand with you in remembrance, in gratitude, and in reverence.

Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
