We live in the “Attention Economy,” where the aim of corporations is to capture and control your attention.

That’s why 24-hour news cycles are designed to provoke outrage, and algorithms are crafted to trigger your nervous system.

“Buy, buy, buy—you’ll feel better!” they promise. “Fear, fear, fear—trust us, and you’ll be safe. We’ve never lied to you before.”

Many walk around with a dopamine drip in their pockets—our so-called “smart” phones.

But are they really that smart?

My friends, it’s time to free yourself from the intentions of others. Choose where to place your attention.

Choose your family and friends.
Choose your breath and body.
Choose nature and creative pursuits.

Don’t shy away from the tough feelings that TV and smartphones often numb. Yes, you might feel bored or irritable at first, but those feelings will pass.

Life is waiting for you to fully awaken to its beauty.

Hi there, my name is Andrew Tanner. As my online community continues to grow, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and personally welcome you all.
For over 20 years, I’ve dedicated myself to teaching and healing through Korean Mountain Taoist Yoga, a powerful tradition that isn’t very accessible in the west. In 2024, I began sharing a modern approach to this ancient tradition, with the goal of training hundreds of teachers. My mission is to spread the transformative power of Taoist Yoga and Meditation to every yoga studio in America.

I’m also the founder and director of a grateful husband and dad. Those are my hats. I try to live in alignment with the Tao and help others find and share their Tao.

Taoist philosophy (and yogic philosophy) agree with Buddhism that wisdom and clarity of mind produce wholeness, BUT they have an additional major emphasis on practices of breathing, movement, body awareness, and awareness of one’s feelings.
While Buddhism emphasizes insight through understanding, Taoism emphasizes a return to the bodies natural wisdom.
I’ve always believed the Taoist Philosophy is like complimentary medicine to the teachings of the major world religions, bringing them to earth to work from the bottom up and not just the top down.

Taoist meditation can be categorized into three main practices: Concentrative, Visualization, and Insight.
These techniques teach us to carefully examine and observe our surroundings. (Guan)
They involve intense concentration, decisive action, firmness, and stability. (Ding)
They also cultivate an increasing awareness of the present moment, existence, and the art of simply being. (Cun)
