Native Americans of the west coast have harvested Abalone for centuries. They consumed the meat and used the shells to make beads, fishhooks and decorative items. Today, the abalone shell is largely used as a smudge bowl to burn sage, sweetgrass, palo santo. Abalone brings with it a natural shielding that blesses the person holding it with tranquility. Be careful though, an abalone shell will get hot from the heat of a lit sage wand
