Dear Patients of Village Smiles:
Opting out of Healthplex/Child Health Plus Dental Insurance
We are devoted to providing excellent care to all our patients. We constantly review our systems and services in order to maintain the highest level of care and customer service. Each year we re-evaluate our insurance contracts to determine if we can continue to provide the utmost quality of care under the current terms of each contract.
We have determined that the current Healthplex/Child Health Plus dental insurance contract interferes with our ability to provide optimal care to its members. Because we are concerned about your overall health, we are not willing to compromise the quality of dental care we provide to you and your family. After much deliberation, we have decided to end our preferred provider status with the Healthplex/Child Health Plus dental insurance company, effective immediately. We can continue to treat you as a patient but you may not have any insurance coverage or benefit.
We will no longer be an in-network provider with Healthplex/Child Health Plus dental insurance plans effective immediately.
We apologize for the inconvenience that this causes, and it was our intention to provide you with 90-day notice. Unfortunately, without our knowledge, Healthplex/Child Health Plus decided to terminate our agreement immediately before we could provide more advanced notice. This was a unilateral decision by the insurance company that has left us and our patients in an unfortunate situation. For that, we apologize.
We hope that you will remain with our practice because we believe that the relationship of trust and mutual respect that we have developed is important.
Please be assured that our entire dental team has spent a significant amount of time considering this issue with your overall health in mind. Please do not hesitate to call should you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to continuing to provide dental care to you and your family.

So today I celebrate my 40th year at Village Smiles! OMG! I was 20 going on 21 when Paul Schwedfeger hired me and I started at Seneca Parkway, then to Pittsford. Dr. Matt was a year old! So many memories and life long friendships were formed. I have seen patients go from babies to having babies! I have lost many dear patients and gained intense, lifelong friendships thru the years. I would not trade one moment. I have been blessed. I remember after my interview, I ran home to tell my parents I was going to make 8.00 an hour! I was thrilled! So I thank you all for the love, support and appreciating me! No, I am not retiring any time soon… I’m part of the woodwork and will probably die at my desk, like Ms. Blankenship in MAD MEN! LOL! I am devoted to my dear ‘Son’ Dr. Matt Schwedfeger and my beautiful Staff. The best of the best and it doesn’t get better than that! It is with great sadness that we wanted you to know Viv's Beloved Mother Connie passed away on Thanksgiving...Viv is out of the office until at least 12/9...keep her and her family in your prayers... Her Mother was an amazing Woman who touched all of us deeply, 1 in a Million...We were blessed to know her! She was so proud of her Daughter's Longevity here...40 years where Viv made so many Friends and Family for life...We wish Connie Eternal Peace. We give Her family love and support ...Prayers are welcome as Connie (Concetta) had a deep, undying Catholic Faith.... Thank you all....
