I hope everyone is staying safe and abiding by the CDC recommendations. I find this is not as simple as it sounds as we are wired for human interaction including touch. A 20 second hug increases oxytocin (happiness) and decreases the stress hormone, norepinephrine.

Social distancing may not apply within a low risk household. Hug those around you everyday (if safe). For those of you living alone consider going for walks with neighbors (6 feet apart) and connecting through zoom or facetime with loved ones.

Keys to wellness during these times
1. Gratitude for what we have
2. Cook (and eat) healthy food
3. Move your body several times per day
4. Get outside! Parks are open
5 . Use this opportunity to develop good sleep habits
6. Be gentle and non judgemental with yourself (netflix is there for a reason)

Many of you have asked for water filter system recommendations. I am not an expert on these systems but I know they are absolutely necessary given the ubiquitous contamination of our water supply.

Dr. Herron has 22 years of experience in WOMEN’S healthcare.

I have been a practicing Obstetrician and Gynecologist in Rochester NY since completing my residency at the University of Rochester, Strong Memorial Hospital in 2000. I am Board Certified Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 2018, I completed a two-year fellowship in Integrative Medicine, under the direction of Dr. Andrew Weil at the University of Arizona. My Functional Medicine training is through the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM).

I, like many Functional Medicine providers, have undergone my own health challenges and found wellness through less traditional methods. My desire to bring both my personal experience and professional expertise to other women sparked my pursuit of integrative and Functional Medicine. My philosophy is simple; I view myself as a highly skilled medical advocate who views women as active participants in their own healthcare.
