There’s a part of the body that’s rarely talked about when it comes to mental health - but it plays a surprisingly big role in how we feel.
It’s called fascia.
Fascia is the connective tissue that wraps around and weaves through everything in the body - muscles, organs, nerves, and joints. Think of it like a three-dimensional web that connects your entire body from head to toe.
But fascia isn’t just structural.
It’s also deeply connected to the nervous system.
In fact, fascia contains millions of sensory nerve endings that constantly communicate with the brain about things like tension, pressure, movement, and safety.
When we’re stressed, overwhelmed, or stuck in a constant “fight or flight” state, the fascia can become tight and dehydrated. That’s why stress often shows up physically as:
• tight shoulders
• neck tension
• jaw clenching
• low back stiffness
• that overall feeling of being “wound up”
The body and mind are never separate.
Our nervous system influences our fascia, and our fascia sends signals right back to the brain.
The good news is that there are simple ways to help support both.
During Mental Health Awareness Month, one of the most supportive things we can do is focus on practices that help the body soften! Join us today. ✨
