I still have a long way to go on this 🐎 journey and tons to learn, but we all have to start somewhere..

*Growing up with a younger sister who rode from a young age, I was always fascinated by the horse world, but I was involved in too many team sports at the time to afford time (or money) to be directly involved. As an adult, my riding journey started as a way to satisfy a lifelong curiosity, but grew to be a part of who I am today. It became my way to escape the house during a pandemic, a set of new challenging skills and education to master, a new community to be a part of as well as contribute to.

*Over the last several years, riding horses has become a therapeutic to me in every sense of the word:

*Physically, after taking a couple hard falls, tearing tendons, breaking bones, having a surgery and having to rebuild my foundation a multitude of times.

*Mentally, as a way to unwind, to feel accomplishment and to build grit when things don’t go as planned. Consistently having to work through the fears that come with trauma to find my way back to the immense joy that riding brings. Overcoming major mental obstacles was empowering and showed me how resilient I am.

*Horses have taught me so much about the importance of being in tune with those around me. They have taught me that I am stronger than I realize and that I need to be sensitive in different ways than I was accustomed to. They have taught me a new language to speak and new tools to work with.

*As a Physical Therapist who understands, first hand, what qualities the equestrian life brings to those in it, I will never tell my clients they can never ride again because of XYZ. I understand what a vital part of your life this sport is! I’ve worked with riders all over the world from various disciplines from English Dressage to Side Saddle to Western Barrel Racers and Cutters to help them regain and optimize their physical self so they can once again enjoy the activity that breathes life into their deepest self.

**If you are struggling to enjoy your riding because it is uncomfortable or gives you more fear that something will hurt🤕….

**If you have taken some time off and need to get back into shape for the upcoming show season…

To get access to health care, you don't just need insurance. You also often need to navigate all the hoops and hurdles of health plans.

Such an important concept...

Have you ever felt the way this photo looks?
Yea, you probably have. And this is the important part, so pay attention.
Are you addicted to that feeling?
Do you feel like your workout wasn’t good enough without that feeling?
If you answered “yes” to those questions, you are putting your body and your mind in danger.
We get it. You see athletes like and .kole in images like this one, and exhausted on the competition floor, and you think “that’s what I need to do it I want to look and perform that way.”
False.
These two are able to overcome injuries inevitable with training at the intensities they do because the injuries are not allowed to become chronic. They know when to slow down so they don’t fly off the tracks.
Yes, feeling discomfort is inevitable. You have to get over that if you want to be great, but being injured long term is not.
You shouldn’t always have back pain when you workout.
Your shoulder shouldn’t ache every time you put weight overhead.
You shouldn’t wake up with your Achilles in pain.
If you’re not competitive with your fitness, get to this place twice a week. The rest of the time, grind.
Prioritize quality, prioritize eccentric, and prioritize recovery.
If you are competitive, 5 days a week you’re going to feel like this. It comes with the goal. But it should NOT be from joint pain.
Same rules apply to you, prioritize recovery, quality, and eccentric contractions.
If you can’t figure out where to fit them in because your program is so full already, you’re doing too much.
Now you know.
