We know that many are without power in our community. Although we cannot speak to when the power outages will be restored, we do know that the PG&E crews are working hard to get our communities power turned back on. Until that happens, if you are using candles to light your residence, please be fire safe with them and extinguish them prior to leaving them unattended or going to bed. If you can use battery powered lighting devices that would be safer. We do not want to risk anyone having a house fire because of unattended candles.

There is a soft road closure in Georgetown on the 6500 block of Wentworth Rd. at Beam Field. This closure is in effect due to the road conditions upcountry. Wentworth Rd. is an El Dorado County maintained road and this closure allows the county work crews the safest conditions as they work to clear the roads for safe travel. We strongly urge that nonresidents do not travel up Wentworth Rd. past the soft closure.

Any travel past the soft closure could result in your vehicle becoming stuck for an undetermined amount of time.

For information regarding our county maintained road closures and other available resources (sandbags) please use Perimetermap via this link: perimetermap.com

With the arrival of this current winter storm and the multiple feet of snow in the higher elevations, the downed trees, the snow blocked roads, and the power outages decided to come too.

Based on lessons learned from past similar weather events, a new task force has been created to tackle these problems.
The task force is a combination of Pacific Gas and Electric, CalFire, El Dorado County Fire, El Dorado County Department of Transportation, and the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, Office of Emergency Services.

The purpose of the task force is to organize crews from each of the partner agencies to clear roads of snow, downed trees, debris, downed power lines, and allow for safe travel. Each crew is comprised of a team leader, a PG&E crew, a Calfire hand crew, and a DOT snowplow. Currently these crews supporting the communities on the Divide, Po***ck Pines, Sly Park Hills and Omo Ranch.

We thank everyone for their support and ask our communities to please be patient with the crews as they work to open the roads and allow for safe travel. Please give them space to work and know that they are a limited resource in our county as similar task force crews are working in other counties as well.
If you do have an emergency, please contact 911 not one of these crews.
