🌱 Our First Harvest! 🥕🍅

Exciting news from the Villa Maria Nursing & Rehabilitation Garden — we’ve officially had our first harvest from the vegetable garden!

A heartfelt thank you to UCONN’s, Samantha Vadeboncouer, and Plainfield Rotary’s, Rockwell Wagner for helping bring this project to life. Our residents are enjoying the fruits (and veggies!) of this amazing collaboration — and we’re just getting started! 🌿

🌞 Week 4 of Tuesday Walkers: Stepping Into Summer Together! 🌿

Our Tuesday Walkers are back at it for Week 4, embracing the sunshine, fresh air, and friendship with every step. What started as a simple stroll has turned into a highlight of the week for our residents — full of laughs, stories, and strong strides!

This growing tradition continues to lift spirits and build connections. Whether walking side-by-side or cheering each other on, our walking group proves that staying active is better together. We’re already counting down to next Tuesday!

🎉 Success Story: Kenneth Anthony 🎉

We’re thrilled to celebrate the incredible recovery of Kenneth Anthony! When Mr. Anthony arrived at Villa Maria Nursing & Rehabilitation in early May, he was extremely weak—unable to lift his legs or assist in his own care after 40 days in a hospital bed. But from day one, he showed determination.

With the help of our dedicated rehab and nursing teams, he was in a wheelchair the very next morning using a Hoyer lift. He continued to push through challenges, even during multiple trips back to the hospital for chemo treatments.

Kenneth worked tirelessly with Physical and Occupational Therapy—and thanks to his commitment and the outstanding care he received, including amazing results in nursing throughout his recovery, he is now totally independent and heading home tomorrow!

🎉 Successful Resident Discharge: Beverly Steiger 🎉

After being hospitalized with weakness and illness—and feeling she wasn’t getting the care she needed elsewhere—Beverly Steiger came to Villa Maria Nursing & Rehabilitation determined to get home to her caregiver.

With hard work and support from our rehab and nursing teams, she made great progress and achieved her goal!

Beverly shared her gratitude for the staff who helped her grow stronger and said she’d gladly return to Villa Maria Nursing & Rehabilitation for short-term rehab in the future.
