🟥🖤 September is Sepsis Awareness Month 🖤🟥

Did you know sepsis is a leading—and often under-recognized—cause of death and long-term disability both in the U.S. and worldwide? Despite growing awareness, many people still don’t recognize the early signs, and preventive measures like vaccination are underutilized.

Sepsis occurs when the body has an extreme response to an infection, which can quickly lead to tissue damage, organ failure, and even death. Early detection is critical, and a helpful memory aid is TIME:

Temperature: Fever, shivering, or feeling very cold

Infection: Signs like wounds, urinary tract infection, or pneumonia

Mental decline: Confusion, sleepiness, or difficulty waking

Extremely ill: Severe pain, shortness of breath, or feeling “you might die”

At Villa Maria Nursing & Rehabilitation, we are committed to supporting our top hospital partners—William W. Backus Hospital and Day Kimball Hospital—by spreading awareness and enhancing our protocols to protect our residents and community.

💜🎉 Purple Night: Fun for a Cause! 🎉💜

We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to D&Gs, The Booze Barn, and everyone who came out to support our Purple Night event! 💜

It was a night filled with fun, community spirit, and generosity — and we’re thrilled to share that 100% of the money raised is going to the Alzheimer's Association.

We reflect with gratitude on the heroes—first responders, volunteers, and countless others—who risked everything to help others. 💙

Today, Wachusett Healthcare is proud to have three of our facilities represented at the Southeast Health Living Expo at Dodd Stadium! 🏟️

🌟 Beechwood Health & Rehabilitation Center, Harbor Village Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, and Villa Maria Nursing & Rehabilitation have all come together to showcase the care and services we provide.

A special thank you to our Admissions Directors — Susan Lorenzo (Beechwood), Rich Sajdak (Harbor), and Brandy Page (Villa) — for representing their buildings with pride! They are sharing information, handing out flyers, and spreading plenty of Wachusett Healthcare spirit with our branded trinkets. 💙⚾
