A FAMILY COMMITMENT FOR GENERATIONS STARTS WITH A STRONG COMMITMENT FROM THE FIRST ONE
Since 1984 Richard Anderson has been pursuing his vocation in the Funeral Industry with his wife Maryann. Having worked elsewhere, he and Maryann made the huge step to acquire their own funeral home. The business was financially challenged when they purchased in Romeoville. They worked hard to gain the trust of the community and succeeded in improving business and making a living. Then the city decided to acquire the property the funeral home was situated on for municipal use for the city. Using "Eminent Domain" to acquire private property for public use, the Andersons were forced to pivot to remain in business. They purchased property in Crest Hill. A few years later, the city changed its mind on the development they were pursuing, making the Andersons owners of 2 locations forf their Memorial Homes. That proved to be good fortune for families in the region of Romeoville, Lockport, Crest Hill, Plainfield, Joliet and beyond. .
Owning operating both locations with family and staff, both funeral homes were growing rapidly with the trust and support of the surrounding communities. Later, a third location, the former Goodale Funeral Home in Lockport became available with its bucolic location and stunning stained glass, set above the river, with a gracious view of downtown Lockport. A lot of luck, a lot of work and tremendous devotion allowed for the extra growth, as Richard's son Nelson and Daughter in Law Grace came into the family legacy to assist and ultimately become the future stewards of Anderson Memorial Homes.
Richard is clear that this is and has been his well thought out intention. A generational Family Owned and Operated Funeral Home legacy. The commitment of an entire family and many dedicated staff is what makes this kind of legacy work. Add to that the highest level of service to families during the most sensitive time of their lives, makes this business a ministry as well. The Andersons are utterly committed to the communities who have been so loyal to them.. Something like this only happens....on purpose.
At Anderson Goodale, whatever we can do to make this difficult process easier. Preplanning or At Need, we're there for you 24/7 in 3 locations.
