Struggling to get your child’s attention—or noticing they often say “what?” even when they hear you? 👂

It might not be hearing… it could be auditory processing.

Auditory processing is how the brain understands and makes sense of sounds. When there are challenges in this area, children may:
• Have trouble following directions
• Misunderstand what’s said
• Need repetition often
• Struggle in noisy environments

The good news? 💡
Speech therapy can help strengthen these skills through targeted, play-based activities that build listening, comprehension, and confidence.

If you’ve been wondering whether your child’s listening skills are where they should be, we’re here to help. Reach out to learn more about how we support auditory processing in a fun, supportive way.

🦸‍♂️ National Superhero Day 🦸‍♀️

At PFG Therapy, we believe every child has the potential to be something great 💫

Not all superheroes wear capes—some are learning to say their first words, hold a pencil, regulate big emotions, or try something new for the first time. And that takes real strength 💪

Every small step forward is a big win. Every child’s journey is unique. And every child has their own kind of superpower ✨

We’re honored to support our amazing kids as they grow, learn, and discover just how capable they truly are 💛

🌸 Fun Speech Activity: Flower Play! 🌼

Bring speech practice into springtime with this easy flower activity:

🌷 Pick a Flower & Talk!
Use real or pretend flowers and have your child:

• Name colors (“red flower,” “yellow flower”)
• Practice sounds (ex: “f” for flower, “b” for bloom)
• Make sentences (“I picked a pink flower”)
• Describe (big/small, soft, pretty)

💡 Make it interactive:
• Hide flowers around the room for a “flower hunt”
• Take turns picking and talking about each one
• Add actions like “smell the flower” or “give it to mom”

Learning through play makes speech practice natural and fun 🌿💛

🧠 What Are Primitive Reflexes?

Primitive reflexes are automatic movements that babies are born with. As children grow, these reflexes should naturally fade and be replaced with more controlled movements.

When they don’t fully integrate, they can sometimes impact:

• Coordination and balance
• Handwriting and fine motor skills
• Attention and focus
• Body awareness
• Emotional regulation

👀 You might notice things like:
• Difficulty sitting still
• Awkward pencil grip
• Clumsiness or frequent tripping
• Trouble with posture

The good news? OT can help support development and integration through targeted activities and movement-based strategies 💪

🌱 Fun OT Activity: Gardening for Little Hands! 🌼

Gardening is a great way to build important skills while having fun outdoors!

Try this simple activity with your child:

🪴 Plant & Play
Let your child help dig, scoop, and plant flowers or seeds.

👉 This helps with:
• Fine motor skills (grasping, pinching, scooping)
• Hand strength (digging, squeezing soil)
• Bilateral coordination (using both hands together)
• Sensory exploration (touching dirt, water, textures)

💡 Make it extra fun:
• Use small tools or spoons for scooping
• Spray plants with a water bottle for hand strength
• Practice following directions (“put soil in the pot, then add the seed!”)

Learning + play + a little mess = the best kind of therapy 💛

Save this idea for a sunny day! ☀️🌷
