At the resident's request, we have started a Poetry Club, and our first gathering was quite successful! Individuals wrote their own verses, and then we created a group poem, also known as An Exquisite Co**se (below). This title designates a way of creating a piece of art, or a poem created by multiple people working together, sometimes without knowing what the previous individuals have written or created.

NATURE –
As unpredictable as the spirits
A beauty unmatchable
A Mother of undeniable Rage
Complimenting a Peace of Mind
To be calm is to accept
What drives us into unpredictability
Mother Nature: A guardian of our homes

Ciel at Plainfield has been going through a full public area remodel! ✨

Paint, lighting, flooring, and furniture, in that order, and we are completing the final section to be painted: our dining room! So, it is sealed up tight, (no matter how much we all want to peek, we cant!) and we are dining in our new alternate dining rooms.

Honestly, we are having quite a bit of fun with this change of scenery! We are now on day three, and not only have there been almost zero complaints, but folks are sitting with new tablemates and making new friends!

We are expecting the dining room to be completely painted next week, and we cannot WAIT to see the final results!

Giving individuals "things to keep them busy" is often the focus of many memory care programs. As each individual is able, we provide the opportunity to work on projects that require not only multiple steps, but multiple sessions.

Currently, residents are working on the first step of their multimedia collage projects. Using a collection of items, including puzzle pieces from incomplete puzzles, we begin to create the 3D background. A minimum of three steps will be part of each project, but each person can choose to make their project more complex if they would like.

This project requires fine and gross motor skills, as well as cognitive skills that include sequencing, color recognition, matching, and planning. The end results will be done sometime in the next month and we cannot wait to see what they create!

We planted and got to make our first harvest of Lemon Cucumbers. 🍋 The next harvest will be herbs for our Sensory Kits and for Chef Michael to use in our meals!

Sensory kits are specially curated small collections of items designed to engage all the senses and create opportunities to connect with each individual at their level, with items that they may find interesting. Each of these experiences provides a connection and is especially important for those individuals who may not be able to fully participate in other programs and activities.

Used by our Life Enrichment team and our visiting Hospice staff, we strive to be sure that each person is treated in a way that makes them feel loved and cared for and special, no matter what. 💙
